Once Upon a Lie

Music and merriment by Paul Sherry. I own less hats than you might think

We don’t always know what kind of music we’re creating, but we make it our way. We create what we want to hear, and we say the things we want to say.

We are the geniuses who know that you shouldn’t wet the bed, yet still fumble through life. We create songs and raps, writing poems and literature, painting pictures we don’t know how to draw, yet love deeply. We are filled with rage, but our hearts are full of love. We’ve been hated, but we found comfort in that. We realized too late that giving up was never an option, and we rose again from that realization. We’ve learned that memories are the sum of all the sad, painful, joyful, longing, angry, frustrating, regretful, and beautiful moments that shape us.

We are Lenablish, a Montréal-based band blending rock, alternative, and experimental sounds. We draw inspiration from literature and art, with a deep love for the world and everything in it.

We stand here, uneducated, unknown, and never fully understood, yet we sing the song that life has given us. It doesn’t matter if I’m a construction worker, a mathematician, a painter, a delusional dreamer, a figment of imagination, or an angel. What matters is that I sing the song that was meant for me because it is my truth, my struggle, and my existence.

It doesn’t matter who we are—whether we’re messed-up, fake, or foolish—we will sing the song that was given to us. If the world allows us even the smallest crack, we will fill it with our voice. We sing not because we are perfect, but because we have to—because it is the song we were given.
