Bhai Tiloka Ji

Bhai Sahib asked for sermons from Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji to which, Guru sahib instructed Bhai Tiloka ji to always remain engrossed in Simran, to stay happy in the will of Waheguru and not to kill other beings. Bhai Tiloka Ji then went back to Ghazni and worked as a soldier in the Mughal Army with a salary of 50 rupees. He would stay armed at all times (shastardhari). 
One day, Bhai Tiloka Ji followed his superior for hunting where they came across a herd of deers. Bhai Sahib Ji saw a doe and with one blow of his sword, chopped the doe in half. To his surprise, the doe was pregnant and along with its unborn children, died. Bhai Tiloka Ji drowned in regret as he remembered Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s instructions to not kill other beings. 
He decided to abandon his sword as it had become a tool for him to kill other beings and replaced it with a wooden sword instead. 
A colleague reported this to the commanding officer - indicating that Bhai Tiloka is just here to take salary without doing any work. The officer dismissed this allegation and refused to act on the report. The colleague continued pestering and suggested for a roll call to be scheduled where every soldier’s weapons would be inspected. 
At the inspection, Bhai Tiloka was also present in the line of soldiers. The commanding officer began an inspection by asking everyone to display their swords. Bhai Tiloka Ji started feeling anxious with the fear of being dismissed without honour. Bhai Sahib Ji then performed an Ardas to Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji to save his honour. Guru Sahib was in Amritsar and heard Bhai Tiloka Ji’s Ardas closely. As Bhai Sahib’s turn came to unsheath his sword, he said Waheguru as he pulled the sword out with his eyes closed. A beautiful sword came out that shined bright, leaving everyone present to be astonished. 
Following this event, Bhai Tiloka Ji visited Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji and narrated the entire event to the sangat present. Everyone uttered “Dhan Guru” with utmost faith. 



BHAI KATARU JI 

One day, Bhai Kataru Ji came to Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s sanctuary and asked for sermons to eliminate all problems. He worked as an officer who would ration produce and groceries. Satguru Ji instructed him to never distribute any lesser than he’s supposed to and always remain engrossed in Simran. By doing this, Guru Ji said he would never face any lack of wealth. 
Bhai Sahib Ji returned to Kabul and continued working. One day, Bhai Sahib’s weight measurement tools had a discrepancy in terms of its measurement by 5%. This matter was reported to the Nawaab who summoned Bhai Sahib Ji to his court. The weight was inspected and a discrepancy was found. Bhai Sahib with fear in his heart performed an Ardas to Guru Sahib Ji as the discrepancy was unknown to him. At the same time in Amritsar, a Sikh presented 5 cents to Guru Sahib. Guru Ji took the coin in their hand and started moving it between both hands. Sikhs pleaded “Satguru Ji, you remain unaffected by even silver and gold but why have you decided to pick up this coin today?” 
Satguru Ji explained, “I am filling the gap of my Sikh’s measurement that is going through inspection now in Kabul.” On the other hand in Kabul, there were no discrepancies found in Bhai Sahib’s measurements. Bhai sahib was then promoted to handle the finances of the royal court.
