Today I’m so excited to share my project which I have been working on for a couple of months now! Introducing “Slugstep”, a genre I invented out of boredom and emotional numbness, all folded up neatly in a 4-track EP. The genre pulls inspirations from Lo-Fi music, HipHop, Psychedelica, Ambient, IDM/Glitch music, and of course Dubstep, especially the Old School/UK sound. In this EP, I tried to explore the different directions this genre could go in and tried to go as slow as I could to attempt to achieve a sense of liminality. For some, liminal spaces and vibes can be eerie and ominous, while for others it could be comforting, meditative, and even nostalgic. That’s why I intentionally made this EP to sound subjective so it can channel or express one’s emotions and psyche, which I’m proud to think that I achieved according to the amazing people who reviewed and gave feedback on the EP before its release.

Night At The Balcony

This was supposed to be my last track for the year, but it didn’t line up with my schedule and I was quite busy ^ ^; I made this track during a very tough period in my life and it didn’t help that I had a severe creative block. A lot of things happened in my life and I was extremely depressed to the point where I barely found any inspiration or motivation to make music, to the point where I contemplated doing the deed because the collection of things that kept me going were seemingly slipping away. It was VERY rough! I wouldn’t say it’s better now, but it’s getting there. This track represents my struggles and while I don’t expect everyone to like it, it still means too much to me because it helped me pull myself out of a really bad hole.

Anyways, sorry for the depressing story. I hope you enjoy the track regardless! It’s another “Slugstep” track!
