A warm welcome to the 6th addition of Music and me - The antndex Podcast. 
This week, I’ve done things … a little bit different. Usually I have a DJ or DJ’s in front of me to talk to, but, I thought I’d answer some questions people may wanted to ask. 
The questions I got were personal to me and also about the music scene we experience today. 

- In this episode, I run through those questions and also touch on a subject everyone is talking about.. cameras/phones, is it ruining the look of a dance floor? Are the crowd individuals listening to the work of a DJ? Let me know what you think in the comments section. 

I also touch on the trance scene and how people are currently finding it at the moment. Is it toxic? What can we do to make it bigger and better? 

A project is coming… ‘Recognised’ by antndex is a track that will soon be worked on with the help of some producers. More on this during this episode.

Spuddy live from the lounge - Small Trees X Empire 7thFeb2025

The name is Anton, and I use Dex.. I am A Vinyl and controller Disc Jockey. 

Music is life, that’s why our hearts have beats, and music has been with me since I was a child. Picking up the love for it is with thanks to my brother, Thomas, who is also a DJ. Heavily into A State of Trance and various House music as a young lad, my passion and desire to use Decks was something I had to jump on and so I did, grabbing my first set up back in 2019. Throughout the days before this set up, I would often use my brothers, but getting your own is something you get a drive for. 

Since the set up, I have digged crates like never before, as I loved the original vinyl records full stop. Classic/Progressive/Tech and Melodic Trance. House, Tech house and Techno/Melodic Techno is where the focus is, and will forever be the focus. 

Outside the music, I now host my own podcast, giving DJs a chance to showcase their journeys and stories of how they became DJs and why. After all, we all get here some way or another. You can find this podcast on Spotify as well as here. Search- Music & Me - The antndex Podcast. 

I’m also a huge Middlesbrough FC fan and an ambassador for Autism. I collect coffee stamps to get a free one (because.. who doesn’t like free stuff?!) Work wise, I’m a full time Teaching Assistant in Special Educational Needs and a freelance nightclub DJ.

Mark Tate aka DJ Spuddy, I hit the decks DJing around the age of 12 years old DJing on old hifi record players from Sony/Hitachi to Technics SL B2’s to SL-1500 Belt drive decks, and collected vinyl records ever since.


My preferred audio taste is electronic & techno music from styles such as Hardcore (Dutch/UK), Bouncy Techno, German Trance, Happy Hardcore, Italian Dance / Makina, Gabba,and all aspects of Trance music. I've Been Pretty much driven by the sounds of the Powerhouse, venue , Colosseum and After Dark tapes in which I collected and grew up listening to.

In the year of 1999 I became in love with Trance music and bought my very first trance vinyl - system F - Out of the blue - from then on I became in love with it, my spectrum become more energetic with a hybrid fusion of progressive Trance, Hard & Banging Trance, Hardstyle and Hard House. Massive love of Gatecrasher, Goodgreef, Cream, Rong, ASOT etc etc.

Something about me is I am picky when it comes to a tune and only follow the sounds that penetrate deeper than my ears. My mixing sound and mixing styles developed from practise and practise, and still to this day still developing, my dimensions and my smooth precision on mixing is coming on.

My First break was spent playing clubland for many years at a major local night club & Dj'd alongside local hard-hitters and national acts alike, playing those tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realising it.

forward 2020 brought colosseum reunion, reminiscing the old skool back to people’s minds, basically i took it to a new level, then I started up limitless - trance gathering which is going from strength to strength, quite a few successful events in, support from other brands, we look forward to the future.

Update - Recently just hosted the first floor in the empire - unbelievable
