I used to drink to kill the pain —
By myself. In silence. In the shower. In the car.
I lost friends. I lost family. I lost four fingers.
I almost lost my life.

I went to rehab twice.
Sat in circles with strangers crying about regrets.
I swore I would stop — but the bottle kept pulling me back.

Until one day… I stopped.
Not for clout. Not for a man. Not for appearances.

I stopped because I finally asked:
“Would I live for my children?”

Now I build from scratch.
I pray at the altar on my desk.
I hear God speak in ancient dialects when I code, when I write, when I create.

I’m not perfect. I still get cravings.
But I never want to go back.

This was the last drink.
