A full orchestra piece written in the key of A minor, primarily in 6/8.  When I went to write this piece, I was inspired by the ever popular "Dies Irae". It can be heard throughout the piece. This piece, although very centered around death themes, was not written with any specific emotive intent. In fact, I only named it "Death of a Butterfly" as I had used the "Dies Irae" and had a lot of flittering upper lines that reminded me of butterflies. However, in hindsight, I like to associate it with bringing meaning to something, even if it is as small of a butterfly dying. Similar to how the notion of the "butterfly effect" is perceived in talks of time.
