Hailing from Sussex, Solsan sculpts his sound from the eclectic bohemian culture that is the seaside town of Brighton, where he resides. Being a classically trained musician, this producer and DJ incorporates his flute into his music to provide a unique perspective of Drum & Bass. Inspired by the likes of Philth, Dilemma, A.I. and Bonobo, Solsan brings his sound fused with these inspirations to his DJ sets. Expect a hard hitting tribal vibe for the perfect balance between face melting bass and uplifting tribal soul. Established in 1999, Fokuz have proved time & time again that they are a pivotal cornerstone of the Drum & Bass community, unleashing release after release of soulful goodness, with lots of variety sprinkled in for good measure. Their sister label, Celsius, has followed that trend, whilst also spraying out a unique blend of both artists and productions. Eclectic Brighton-based producer Solsan marks his return to Drum Army with a dastardly new EP, entitled 'The Occult'. This project stakes its claim as Solsan's finest work yet, following up his fantastic previous offerings on the Swiss imprint: 'Skinwalker' on the Yo Bro VA compilation, and the dual-fanged 'Pine / Dreams' free download offering, with the latter just recently passing 10,000 streams. Breaking new ground here, the south coast native excels across all tracks on the project, especially on 'Witch's Heart', a primed, minimal cut that writhes and wallows in a sea of sublime, bubbling low frequencies.
