Art Gallery Crowds Demo

A while back we stayed at an AirBNB near Joshua Tree National Park. The hosts set up a bird feeder right outside the porch which inevitably drew what seemed to be the entirety of the region's wildlife to our doorstep, including a bobcat and some coyotes. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any sound from the bobcat, and only subpar recordings from the coyotes, but the Gambel’s Quails stole the show and gave us a lot of interesting and goofy sounding bird calls to listen to. The atmosphere the birds created was so interesting to us that we spent countless hours listening, taking photos and recording them. Anyway, we love those little goofballs so much that we’re sharing their performances with all of you for free! Enjoy!

Fallen trees making some strange quiet sounds, this was almost complete silent night , moderate wind blowing highr on mountain. So i placed two microphones near fallen tree and it sounds like worms eating wood. It was happening almost all night.

This was inspired by /eni.'s track - Plastic Pillows, and by incredible sounds shown to me by Fritzzzz that were found in architecture and electronics at Angewandte university in Vienna, (specifically in the klasse fotografie). 
I sample vocals from "Plastic Pillows" and live recordings from the sounds shown to me. There are also recordings from a time when the three of us were in some basement in Greece Athens.

Summer field Ambience

Those pigs - I'm always trying to hide from them and they are always seeking me out. I made this recording in September 2024 at Knepp Wilding, wandering off leaving my recorder on the bank of the pond and my hydrophones in the water. I wasn't far away. But spotted fresh pig tracks on my return, and rushed to check on the kit. All in order.

Only today did I listen to the recordings and find out those naughty Tamworths had been sussing out my kit above water and below.

Sounds from a more than fifty-year-old ferry ride through the Croatian islands. This ship truly has a soul—big, loud, and aged. Its entrance hatch, when opened, reveals the entire front of the vessel. Deep horns resonate from this ferry and smaller ships nearby. As the ship starts, waves crash against its body, recorded from the deck. I used two Sennheiser MKH8020 microphones, spaced apart, with a Zoom F3 recorder.

Other recordings were made in the Rijeka shipyard, capturing the heavy metalwork—machines, moving metal parts, distant seagulls, and workers talking. Near the microphones, small birds were chirping. These were recorded with Sennheiser MKH40 microphones and a Zoom F6 recorder.
All files are 48khz 24bit
