The work lives in its entirety on disc, as an artistic object and as a conscious act of cultural choice.
Il viaggio is a piano improvisation based on the main theme of Isabeau, the opening track of the album La vita che grida.
In the original album, this theme is developed orchestrally. Here, it is freely reimagined at the piano — not as a reprise, but as a creative elaboration shaped by improvisation, allowing the original musical nucleus to evolve in a more intimate dimension.
“You love it, but you cannot leave it untouched, as if it had never been born.
You must ruin it a little to make it human.
It will grow old and become imperfect anyway.
You cannot always love an ideal.”
In January 1992, the screenplay of Il Sogno della Farfalla was published in a journal of psychiatry and psychotherapy and later adapted into the film of the same name directed by Marco Bellocchio.
The depth and originality of that text became an emotional source for this piece and for others within the album.
These compositions are not intended as film scoring or musical illustration, but as a personal and free emotional response to the reading of that work.
Il viaggio is not narrative. It is human.
The piece seeks to represent the idea of an original nucleus — that of birth — which here coincides with the main theme of Isabeau. A nucleus that, throughout life, is lived, transformed and freely elaborated by the human being in their own journey.
This piece seeks to represent that journey.

Il viaggio è un’improvvisazione pianistica elaborata sul tema principale di Isabeau, brano di apertura dell’album La vita che grida.
Nell’album originale quel tema è sviluppato in forma orchestrale. Qui viene rielaborato liberamente al pianoforte: non una ripresa, ma un’elaborazione di fantasia che affida all’improvvisazione la trasformazione del nucleo musicale originario in una dimensione più intima.
“Tu lo ami ma non puoi lasciarlo così, come se non fosse mai nato.
Devi rovinarlo un po’ per renderlo più umano.
Poi tanto invecchierà e diverrà brutto.
Ma tant’è. Non puoi amare sempre un ideale.”
Nel gennaio 1992, sul primo numero della rivista di psichiatria e psicoterapia Il Sogno della Farfalla, venne pubblicata la sceneggiatura di Massimo Fagioli, poi realizzata nel film omonimo diretto da Marco Bellocchio.
