When the NFL comes knocking, you answer. So when former NFL wide receiver and current CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson expressed interest in training with the Secret Service, we opened our doors. He spent a hot July day undergoing a truncated selection process for our Counter Assault Team, part of our Special Operations Division. They went through the PT, weapons handling, obstacle courses and realistic scenarios that a CAT member could face on the job. At the end of this grueling day, he sat down with Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle to talk about his experiences and our agency.

EP-384: Mike Albaugh - An Extraordinary Special Operations Career

Shawn Ryan is a former US Navy SEAL who served with SEAL Teams 2 and 8 deploying to multiple conflict zones and fighting in both OIF (Iraq) and OEF (Afghanistan).  After leaving the US Navy and Navy Special Warfare Community, Shawn continued to serve his country as a CIA Contractor involved in US intelligence clandestine operations.

Robert is a retired US Army Armor and Recruiter/Retention MSG turned Fortune 50 executive; Erich Martin is a recently retired US Army Special Forces MSG/E8 from 10th SFG(A); Mike Rutledge is an active duty Chinook Pilot who is a former US Navy SEAL and 160th SOAR Chief Warrant Officer (CW4).

Episode #017 Please welcome Secret Service Sergeant-Technician Darrione Nall who is one of our officers in the Uniformed Division.  Sergeant Nall is part of a special group of officers on the Emergency Response Team (ERT).  ERT is specialized in tactical weapons and training, and they also have a Tactical Canine Unit.  They provide perimeter security, conduct sweeps, respond to any breaches, and assist in suspect apprehension.

Ep. #017 - Emergency Response Team with Sgt.Tech. Darrione Nall

Episode #029 Please welcome Lieutenant Maria Ruano of the Uniformed Division.  Lt. Ruano has served with the USSS for more than 14 years.  She started her career at the White House Branch before transferring to the Naval Observatory Branch and then on to the Counter Surveillance Unit for the Vice Presidential Protective Detail (VPPD).  Lt. Ruano was promoted to Sergeant in 2014 and then assigned to the White House Branch.  Then she was selected as a classroom instructor at the James J. Rowley Training Center for two years before getting promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and transferred to the Special Operations Division (SOD) back to the White House Branch.  In 2019, she was named as the Operations Lieutenant at SOD/ K9 where she is currently assigned.
