another remake from a track first written c1995/96 - when I was university, called GASS for some reason.

this remake goes full-on dramatic string quartet (from Spitfire) with a few different key signatures and transpositions in.  underpinned by a burbling 303 bassline to keep it honest.

Another Ending Story (Gass)

the origins of this track go back to c1991 /92.  the original being a piece of music written for my Music GCSE.  at the time, my teacher lamented that I always wrote everything in a minor key, and couldn't I try something a little bit more, well, uplilfting.

so "Promise" was my piece written in G Major.  not a sad note to be found....

[cue quick-cuts montage section racing through GCSEs, A Levels, university, working in London, marriage, moving to Singapore, China, Divorce, Malaysia, Singapore again, Pandemic.. 2023]

i've always been suspicious of too much positivity.  (toxic positivity, I believe it's now called).  To appreciate light, you need shade.  Everyone i know who's always super, positive, great, excellent, that's amazing guys....  has typically had a breakdown or is perhaps racing towards one.

so - the remake keeps the positive music and adds to it with banjo, a delightful string quartet.  and then, of course finds some bitter-sweet vocals to suggest that maybe not everything is how it initially sounds.  indeed, ending with a spoken-word sample about "getting f**ked off my face".

the mix here is a bit messy, apologies.  but it kinda fits.
the title of the track was renamed from Promise to Gorgeous, Generous, Goodness.  in homage to an advertising client that portrays positivity to the world, yet was a toxic experience for me and many others.

за довгий час не зміг досягти значних
результатів при цьому прикладаючи неймовірних ресурсів.
Всі заняття для мене в житті здаються просто марнуванням 
часу. Мозок постійно штовхає мене вперед, але я не 
знаю куди йти.
Мені завжди потрібно відчувати, що я замішаний в якихось
глобальних справах і є частиною чогось важливого, що
мої дії не проходять даремно, але це тимчасовий дофамін,
я не можу себе обдурити і знайти достатньо справ, які
дадуть мені це почуття, вони приїдаються і якщо 
не віддають достатнього фідбека, я їх кидаю.

Звичайні проведення часу, як наприклад, прогулянка, 
сходити в музей або поїхати походити в якесь місце 
не приносить мені достатньо задоволення і я постійно 
думаю що втрачаю час, тільки якщо це не щось унікальне.
У мене немає сил шукати, а те задоволення яке я отримую
від небагатьох речей, які мені подобаються,
не дають достатньо сил для того, щоб знайти щось більше,
що зробить мене щасливим.
Я не шукаю нових хобі, тому що у мене немає
мотивації і я не знаю, де її взяти. Але навіть якщо і
я знайду в собі сили спробувати щось нове -
зазвичай надовго мене не вистачає, як, наприклад, на
музику яку я вже задрочив так що вона стала
для мене як робота. Я хочу отримати від неї щастя,
але вона мені нічого його дає і тому я майже нею
не займаюсь.
Я не меркантильний у плані людей, я не чекаю від них
вигоди коли для них щось роблю, але коли я
займаюся якоюсь справою я завжди хочу
отримати щось натомість.
Чому я люблю наркотики - я завжди знаю, що робити,
я перестаю переживати, що я втрачаю час і просто
почуваюся добре
Продовжую займатися музикою, коли забуваю, що це не
не таке вже безглузде заняття, але тільки думаю щось
викласти, то розумію, що у мене слабкий матеріал
або я завантажу і це нікому нафіг не треба, як от зараз.

Another track from Half A World Away in 2019 remade in 2023, remastered in 2024 for SoundCloud. 

It’s probably from the early 90s with the Orb (and that Justin Robertson mix tape mentioned elsewhere here. Plus the on u sound remixes of PWEI) … but dub & reggae always makes a return to my music. (Along with trumpets it seems).  I did go to Jamaica to explore the sounds c2001, so I did do my homework - getting into king tubby and Lee Scratch Perry. 

Well this one brings in some Jamaican vocals and some off beat chords, but certainly isn’t really reggae or dub.  Shout out to Audio Damage, who's dub station and pan station plugins are my go-tos.  UVI's relay for Delay as well.

The title refers to my consistent M.O. of being incapable of getting going until it’s the last minute.  Painful for me. Probably more painful for everyone else relying on me. But over the years, I’ve learnt to work with it rather than get stressed by it.  Get it in!

Starvelab is multimedia artist Michael Trigilio, a visual & sound artist/musician with commissions from LA County Museum & Dancers' Group, residencies at MOCA and the 2008 Whitney Biennial, and dozens of shows at museums and galleries nationally and internationally. His collection of modular-synthesizer music, "SUGAR," was released by Rita Records in 2014. His EP "Oort Cloud Convalescence" from 2018 is on Soundcloud. In March 2021 Trigilio recorded “Antibody,” a collection of tracks made after receiving first and second covid-19 vaccination doses. In 2024 he released "METASTATIC," an album made on laptop during chemotherapy.

A photographer, videoguy and audio geek in Gothenburg, Sweden. Shoots just about anything and everything of interest.

SPTFR (/Spitfire/), alias Giuseppe Esposito, is a shape-shifting creative talent, an insatiable experimenter in constant pursuit of his sound and fresh channels of communication to evoke emotion. Born in ’87, growing up between Sardinia – land of sea and wind where he was born – and radiant Budapest, he took to music at a very young age as a singer and guitarist, playing in rock and metal bands starting in 2002. At the same time, he discovered electronic music, immediately seeking out his own style, and released his first electro tracks under various pseudonyms as early as 2006. Music is an essential part of every moment of his life and the only way he can fully express his galvanizing spirit. Until 2015, he played in clubs around the island, starting from his hometown of Alghero, a pillar of Catalan culture, one of a kind in its history, language, and traditions. A long hiatus followed to focus on his work as a photographer and director. Photography and music, two passions with the same goal of remembrance, bringing back past sensations, chasing down chills. In 2020, a year of global crisis, he signed with 152 Records, releasing the single Gubble Bum for which he also directed the video. He went back to playing local clubs, as well as various European gigs, crowning his musical renaissance with a spot at the ADE 2021. With a smooth, deep, pure with a strong bass music's character he seeks to bring back forgotten sensations, create connections, and liberate energy.
