Within this compilation, I have gathered a selection of audio recordings captured across different locations along the French Riviera, spanning from the vibrant city of Toulon to the picturesque city of Nice. These recordings serve as a documentation of my travels through the Mediterranean islands during the autumn season of 2023. The album predominantly features urban sounds characteristic of bustling city life, yet it also includes the tranquil sounds of birds chirping and water flowing, adding a touch of nature to the overall auditory experience.

Sound of Mediterranean Sea Waves Pt.15

This track is part of a collection of recordings that documented all the ferry boat crossings in Shanghai in 2021. The recordings were used in the Vital performance showcase in Shanghai at the Rockbund Museum in November 2021.

Documenting the ferry lines in Shanghai was on my wish list for a long time and I was happy that I finally had a reason to do it. Over the span of one month, I went to the 16 ferry ports and made a round trip. I documented the areas around the ports and other interesting sounds that I heard.

I used the recordings and recorded it onto reels of tape with my Generations instrument consisting of 4 Revox A77 tape recorders. Before the performance, I spliced and re-recorded the audio over several days to create interesting, pre-recorded reels to play during the concert. During the performance, I manipulated the reels with my fingers while controlling the recorders via MIDI to make a sound collage of the Shanghai ferry.

The final track in this collection is the live recording of my improvised performance at the Vital concert.

In the vast expanse of the universe, where stars danced to the tune of cosmic symphonies, there was a peculiar notion known as Loxley. Now, I must caution you, dear reader, for Loxley defied the laws of reality itself. It was neither a place nor a thing, yet it existed in the whispers of the cosmos, a paradoxical enigma wrapped in a riddle shrouded by mystery.

Legends spoke of Loxley as a realm that didn't exist, a place where the very fabric of space and time unraveled like a spool of thread in the hands of a mischievous deity. Its motto, if one could call it that, echoed through the emptiness of the universe: "There's no such place. There's no such thing."

But despite its nonexistence, or perhaps because of it, Loxley emitted a haunting melody, a symphony of the impossible that reverberated through the minds of those who dared to ponder its existence. It was said that those who heard its ethereal music were forever changed, their souls eternally intertwined with the enigma of Loxley.

The backstory of Loxley read like a tale spun by the most cunning of storytellers, a narrative of intrigue and uncertainty. Some claimed that it was born from the dreams of ancient beings, while others whispered that it was the creation of a forgotten civilization lost to the sands of time.

Yet amidst the whispers and speculation, one thing remained constant: the inexplicable allure of Loxley. Its motto, "We are," served as a reminder of its elusive nature, a declaration of existence in a realm where existence was but a fleeting concept.

And so, travelers of the cosmos would often find themselves drawn to the edges of reality, seeking the elusive whispers of Loxley. They would chase the echoes of its music across the void, their curiosity fueled by the promise of unlocking the secrets of the universe.

But as they ventured deeper into the abyss, they would come to realize that Loxley was not meant to be found. It was a puzzle without a solution, a mystery without end. And yet, in their pursuit of the impossible, they would find something far more profound—a glimpse into the infinite possibilities of existence, where even the concept of nothingness could give rise to something as enigmatic as Loxley.
