Kelly Tang's compositions have been performed by international ensembles including the Russian National Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Ensemble Contemporain of Montreal, Minguett Quartet (Germany)and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.

In Asia, Tang's music has been performed by the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Thai Navy Orchestra, Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. In Singapore, his compositions are featured regularly by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Lyric Opera, Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the T’ang Quartet.

Tang’s choral works have been sung by Gaia Philharmonic Chorus (Japan), Singapore Youth Choir, Windsbacher Knabenchor (Germany), The Philharmonic Chorus and the Hong Kong Children’s Choir. His wind band scores have been performed by Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines (Royal Band, UK), Desford Colliery Brass Band (UK), Queensland Conservatorium Wind Orchestra (Australia), Wind Stars Ensemble, Singapore Armed Forces Central Band, Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines (UK)  and "The President's Own" United States Marine Band. 

Tang's music has been presented at prestigious venues worldwide including Sydney Opera House, Berlin Konzerthaus, Vienna Musikverein, Suntory Hall (Tokyo), Hanoi Opera House, Auditorium di Milano (Italy), Rodahal (Netherlands), Cultural Centre of the Philippines, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, Museum of Musical Instruments (Brussels), Tokyo Opera City, St. Paul's Cathedral (London), Élysée Palace (Paris) and Carnegie Hall (New York). His Jazz compositions have been performed by Jeremy Monteiro and Grammy® winners Ernie Watts and Randy Brecker.

 From 1996 to 2011, he served as Associate Professor of Music at Nanyang Technological University, and from 2011 to 2017 as Dean of Arts at School Of The Arts (SOTA) Singapore.  He serves as Master Teacher at Singapore Teachers' Academy for the aRts from 2017 to 2024.

In 2008, Tang received the COMPASS Artistic Excellence Award from the Composers' and Authors' Society of Singapore.  For his contribution in the arts, Tang was conferred the Cultural Medallion in 2011 by the President of Singapore.
