In diesem Special stellen wir euch unsere ersten Eindrücke des DLCs: Three Kingdom vor. Ausgangspunkt ist unsere Voreingenommenheit, denn so richtig freudig sind wir nicht auf das DLC zugegangen. Das lag vor allem daran, dass es so viele verschiedene kleine und große Innovationen gibt, dass es fast schon überwältigend ist. Nachdem wir nun ein paar Tage lang das DLC genauer ansehen konnten, können wir zumindest ein bisschen was von unseren Ersteindrücken zu den neuen Zivilisationen geben. Die fünf Zivilisationen unterscheiden sich sehr stark voneinander und bringen viel Interessantes, aber auch Denkwürdiges mit sich. Über das Balancing können wir selbstverständlich nichts sagen, da müssen wir also spekulieren. Auch die Heldeneinheiten erhalten von uns eine Neueinschätzung und Christian liefert sogar einen Vorschlag, der Felix so ganz und gar nicht gefällt.

[GER] DLC: Three Kingdoms

Welcome to the new issue of your monthly Age of Empires podcast magazine! 
I've put together an exciting program for you, with both old and new segments. As always, we'll start with the news, which is of course dominated by Warlords 4. There will be spoilers, so if you don't want to hear them, check the timecodes and skip that section. We'll also talk about Town Center Tango 2, the pitfalls of the PS5 version, and, of course, the topic that everyone is talking about: the Khitan. There's a few updates on AoE 4 and AoM, as an event has started in both games. In a new segment called Games News, I'll be giving you some news about RTS and strategy games outside the franchise that were released last month or will be released the upcoming month and that might be interesting for those who not only like AoE 2 but also enjoy playing strategy games and RTS in general. Today's episode features games like Tempest Rising among other things and some sad news relating to Battle Aces. [ENG] Magazine Ep. #01 June 2025

The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican civilization that flourished in Central Mexico from 1300 to 1521. They comprised of various ethnic groups, particularly those who spoke the Nahuatl language. In Age of Empires II, they have a strong focus on infantery and monks. They have a notable economic bonus, but no particular unit worth booming into. Instead, with faster producing eagle warriors, great monks and good siege weapons, they are well equipped to play aggressively and put early pressure on the enemy. Just like the Aztecs, they also exuded absolute dominance in our beloved game for a while, only to then abruptly disappear from the scene.
In this episode, we'll be taking a deep look into the history of the Aztecs to understand, where their bonuses come from. They were skilled farmers and subdued themselves to bloodthirsty gods, had gold in abundance and never used horses. Their campaign tells the story of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire, however, it's actually not what happend in reality, but just a tale Hernan Cortez told to fool his king.

Welcome to the next Age of Empires Magazine. This month, I have plenty of topics to discuss with you! We'll start with Age of Empires news with Cartographers II, talk about the eSports calendar and the extensive tournament program for the coming year, then I'll summarize the current balance changes to the Three Kingdoms civilizations, and we'll talk about a custom scenario that the devs created in cooperation with the Louvre.
