I have been going to pow wows since the '70's when I first heard and felt the drum in my heart and the singers in my soul and sat on the straw bales watching the feet and the regalia swim past me in a medicine wheel of powerful song and movement. An earth complete. The stars swinging on the branches that hung from summer trees with the smell of fry bread and the sounds of children laughing. This is my family. Within this medicine wheel.

And these crazy white people
With their crazy white schemes
Driving cars building cities 
where his ancestors dreamed

And he's raising the veil
He's turning anger to smoke
To release the white nations 
from all that they broke

He's even saying a prayer
For those who think it's a joke

Stand against evil when it's right in your eyes
Live like an eagle flying close to the sky
Above the stars shine on this concrete and steel
And his Father and our Fathers dance together
And the Ancient ones live forever

Within this Medicine Wheel.
