Finally putting out this recording of last year’s set at Waking Life - it's been a quiet spell for me recently, but following the closure of Planeta Manas feels good to break it with this release.

Playing between Nídia and Cormac, I was faced with a mood and genre-defying challenge, ending up playing from 80 to 170bpm including polyrhythmic drums, gushing psychedelia, conjuring both luminous and ominous soundscapes. Graced with a critical mass of enthusiastic stompers getting lost against the most beautiful sunset at Praia stage.

Thank you WL for inviting me to play, and thank you Ivan for inviting Planeta Manas crew to attend this year - a sweet moment to replenish our energy to say farewell to our planeta.

My Own Funeral

It's always best to start at the beginning (ish), so here is a combination of my mixes from Collide and my time in the Black Mountains. It's a dirty, funky, cheeky, chunky, funky, womper of a stomper! REAL LIFE! This bad girl sounds just as good at the beginning of the night as it does at the end, so if it doesn't have you digging yourself a groove, the only alternative is to dig a ditch and jump on in!

The ep kicks off with Born to Be Loud, a song I first wrote over 20+ years ago when I was just learning to play, heavily inspired by Oasis’s Rock ’n’ Roll Star. Revisiting it from my old demo, I wasn’t sure it would make the cut—some of the lines feel a bit cheesy to sing now, two decades later—but it’s hard to deny it still works as a proper opener. Big, loud, and unapologetic, it sets the tone as a banger right from the start.

My Name is Marvin and music has pretty much always been part of my life. I’ll skip the cliche “ever since I was a kid” story you’ve heard it a thousand times before.

I’ve been producing techno for a while now, and this year felt like the right moment to start fresh. So I chose a new name and put my older tracks up on Bandcamp.

From here on, I’ll be sharing both new and unreleased material on a regular basis. There’s quite a lot in the vault, so expect a steady flow of sounds.
