String Trio in D Major 2025

Featuring Sarah Wallin Huff on violin and viola, with Marina Tseova on cello.
This new work for string trio incorporates some of the musical tropes characteristic of Nordic “symphonic metal” and employed by some of the composer’s favorite bands, such as Within Temptation and Nightwish. The goal of this trio is to provide a fun, feverish, and driving experience for players and listeners alike, that all may sense the reckless freedom of pure personal expression. Rock on!

Sweet Child o' Mine

In the spring of 2025, I got married, and I composed the bridal processional that my wife walked down the aisle to. I wrote my wife three bridal processionals to choose from, and she ended up walking down the aisle to the first movement - "Hailey's Walk". I named the piece “Serenade for Spring” as a tribute to Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings” which is a beautiful piece. The third movement, which is titled “Serenade for Spring” was very much inspired by the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s piece. Each piece has a moment when the doors should open to reveal the bride and then another moment when the bride is to begin walking down the aisle. During the compositional process, we visited the venue where I was to be married, and we actually timed how long it would take Hailey to reach the end of the aisle.

Preston Peak (b. 1998) is passionate about studying music’s origins, innovations, cultural deviations and similarities, and ultimately making music that he loves. Originally attaining a bachelors of science in biomedical engineering at Texas A&M university, Preston’s passions for composition allowed him to begin composing as a hobby for solo piano and smaller chamber ensembles for his friends to perform. To be a composer is to constantly be learning, and in composing for various ensembles and lesser known instruments/styles, Preston is still piecing together his style which takes inspiration from the story-telling sounds of the Romantic Era.


Preston is early in his career, and has yet to have a piece premiered. However, along his journey, he found himself composing for video games, and this medium is a wonderful realm where diversity of genre, instrumentation, culture, and ideas is encouraged. His most recent project includes an original soundtrack for a game which incorporates latin-jazz, orchestral, and electronic elements to provide subtle ambience. These experiences have shaped his compositional style into what it is today.


Preston is still early in his journey, but continues to study music in Houston, Texas, where he is based with his wonderful fiancé, Hailey.

Sarah Wallin Huff has enjoyed her work as a composer for concert halls and soundtracks since 1993. Her original compositions have been performed throughout the States and abroad, including the Exeter Phoenix Auditorium in Devon, England; the Mosman Art Gallery in Sydney, Australia; the Zipper Hall in Los Angeles; and the National Opera Center in New York City. As a violinist, violist, and 6-string electric violinist, she has extensive experience playing with diverse ensembles, as well as performing on various recording projects, large and small.
