I recently challenged myself to make an expanded string quintet arrangement around the theme from the popular anime, DEATH NOTE. My son got me hooked on a couple other shows, namely Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan. Death Note will be the next show I binge watch :).

The theme has an interesting meter (alternating 13/8 and 14/8), and it's extremely stark and transparent: just a melody and a bassline. I tried to make the orchestration as colorful and interesting as possible, using only solo strings. It takes on a much different vibe from the original - almost sounds like something Stravinsky would write!

And then after sitting on the arrangement for a while, I couldn't resist but to add a subtle bass synth pulse, just to fill out the bottom end.

The piece, aptly titled "Yeah Yeah," merges the rich traditions of Carnatic music with contemporary influences, offering a refreshing take on classical percussion. The thavil, with its intricate rhythms and dynamic range, takes center stage, commanding attention with its authoritative presence.

What sets this performance apart is the subtle infusion of a Santoor touch, adding layers of melody and texture to the rhythmic tapestry. The Santoor, a hammered dulcimer with roots in Persian and Indian classical music, adds a hauntingly beautiful quality to the composition, blending seamlessly with the earthy resonance of the thavil.

As the music unfolds, the artists engage in a mesmerizing dialogue, each instrument complementing the other in a graceful exchange of melodies and rhythms. The intricate patterns and improvisations showcase the virtuosity of the performers, demonstrating years of dedication and mastery of their craft.

Music is good for your soul! This is the motto of the Ensemble Musicâme France. Gifted musicians gather around a common passion, that of the pleasure of playing classical music in chamber music and of taking on the responsibilities of soloists. The ensemble gives concerts in the most beautiful monuments: churches, basilicas and cathedrals in all the major cities of France: Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Strasbourg, Nantes, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Lille. Wherever they perform, they know how to communicate joy and arouse the enthusiasm of music lovers!

Stefano D born in Genoa is an independent songwriter recognized for his musical versatility between the Urban and Pop genres in Italian and Spanish

On 12 October 2008 he won the first Italian Music Festival in New York. In 2021 he achieved a double nomination for "best Vídeo Música Tropical Urbana" and "best Fotografía" at the MOVIENDO Guantanamo VídeoClip Festival for  “Noche Prohibida”. In March 2022 he won the eighth edition of the Premios MOVIENDO, awarded as "Vídeo Màs Popular", winning the nomination as "best Urban Tropical Music" of the year;

He published the single “voglia di me” in 2023 in collaboration with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra SIF 309™. On 12 October 2023 he released the single “il nostro mare”, an exclusive production with a string quintet. In fall 2023 he duets with Alberto Plaza on the pop single “Me Gustas Como Eres”;

His latest work “e ora” was released in May 2024;
