The roots of this musical odyssey trace back 23 years to a high school moment when the legendary Jeff Mills' 'I Love Techno 1999' set resonated through a Walkman, introducing a sound that felt both alien and captivating.

Delving deep into the realms of house and techno, Surgeon's groundbreaking 'Force + Form' album and the eclectic sets by Dylan Drazen played a pivotal role in shaping Stroef's musical identity. However, it was the underrated brilliance of Claude Young, showcased in tracks like 'Rise,' 'Mara,' and 'Samba,' that left an indelible mark on his production style.

Versatility is the heartbeat of Stroef's mixes and productions—whether crafting Detroit-styled mixes, dub excursions, or acid-infused journeys. Yet, at the core, Detroit techno remains the heartbeat of his artistic expression.

As the helmsman of Boomstraat 1818, Stroef enjoys the liberty of curating releases from artists he admires. From the immersive sounds of Kuba Sojka to the soulful depths of Taho, each release on the label echoes the warm vibes of Detroit techno.

Stefan Vincent, a musical mentor and longtime friend of Stroef, guided him to Nightime Drama through a podcast for the label. Vincent's technical prowess and collaborative efforts have left an indelible mark on Stroef.

This mix is a captivating fusion of early '90s gems, unreleased productions by Stroef on Diffuse Reality, an acid journey with the Devoran alter ego, and timeless classics from UR.

A label where he releases his own work but also techno tracks from friends and kindred spirits.

Stroef is an Amsterdam based techno dj and producer. Primary influences are Jeff Mills' legendary Tokyo Liquidroom 1995 set and Surgeon's 'Force + Form' album. Later on harder techno sets like High Heel Techno by Dylan Drazen but also his more deep house oriented sets like 'Carry on' and 'Caught in The Act'. It showed him he wanted to play different kinds of techno, from Detroit to dub techno and electro. 

In 2002 he bought his first two decks and since 2005 he has been mixing with three turntables ever since. His mixing style can be described as fast and progressive: often starting out slow and ending harder. He always tries to tell his listeners a story. 

He was also Question clubnight (R.I.P.) resident and and fellow organiser.
