My set from the Uniting Souls Deeper Roots 1 Year Anniversary party at Substation in Seattle on Friday, May 13, 2016. Stoked for the opportunity to play something outside my usual house and techno stuff. I had a choice of either Breaks or Drum & Bass, so I picked Drum & Bass. It's such a pleasure to mix really long dnb intros in and then drop the bass lol. You definitely have to change your mixing game a bit if you've only mixed house. Multiartista permeando a moda, a música e performances visuais, Sandy, é diretora e residente do coletivo Ibriza House e vem promovendo eventos undergrounds, onde apresenta seus DJ sets na cena noturna alagoana, trazendo pesquisas musicais fluidas ente o house music, indie dance e techno.
 	Além de estar a frente do coletivo multicultural Ibriza House, e da marca Ibriza, a produtora de moda e artista NB, também produz o selo independente VuuDuu, que traz influências do techno ao clubkids dos anos 90's, e promove e dirige fashion shows performáticos em um mix sensorial da moda e música marcando um lugar único no cenário local. 
 	Sandy como DJ tocou nos maiores eventos undergrounds de Maceió nos últimos anos, desde a Substation na escadaria Associação Comercial, Carnaground, Parada LGBTQIAPN+ de Maceió, e também no espaço Maceió é Massa no Marco dos Corais, trazendo sua pesquisa que mixa a música e a moda.
 	Atualmente explorando também o audiovisual, e assinando juntamente com todo projeto IBRIZA, a artista tem experimentado dirigir e produzir, curtas e clipes musicais, de forma a expressar e construir todo um universo de identidade que a marca vem desenvolvendo. Em sua primeira direção e produção de videoclipe musical, o trabalho esteve presente na Mostra Sururu 2024, concorrendo na categoria ‘Melhor Clip’.

Recess has been in a long term love affair with Seattle’s underground music scene for the past couple of decades. In the late 80′s he found his second home at the long defunct Club Underground in Seattle’s University District (along with DJ Dominator aka Donald Glaude, DJ Dan and many others). During the 90s he bounced between raves, rock shows and jazz clubs appreciating the passion and community behind the scenes. Using these early experiences as a platform, he started collecting records and honing his skills at various clubs around the Northwest; quickly establishing himself as a formidable performer. 

In 2003 he founded Shameless Productions (responsible for numerous legendary underground club nights, parties and shenanigans). Along with a changing cast of players, over the years, Shameless established itself as a trust worthy brand by throwing some of the most memorable events the Seattle's undergound dance music community. From day one, each Shameless party was a special one regardless of the wide ranges of genres and bookings represented. With an eye towards the cutting edge, but deep respect for electronic music's rich history, Shameless has kept it's finger on the pulse of Seattle's underground for close to 20 years. 

In 2006 Recess was nominated as one of Seattle Weekly's best local DJs. His DJ sets often reflect Shameless' aesthetic by focusing on forward thinking music while cherishing the gems of the past. He'll span the various sub genres of house/disco music, and also weave through techno, electro, breaks depending upon the party. His range, passion and deep understanding of the dancefloor has made him a longtime favorite underground club DJ in Seattle and the greater Northwest. Whether it’s an afterhours loft space, major club, mountaintop, or random BASSment; Recess has consistently brought the sounds and energy to fit any dance party.

Born and raised in the Seattle area and always surrounded by different types of music. My personal musical journey took me from 80s synth-pop, to early rap & hip-hop, metal, grunge, punk, and then industrial music, before finding house, techno, and the underground Seattle rave scene in the early 90s. After going to my first rave in 1993, I was absolutely hooked, started collecting vinyl, and bought my first set of Technics SL1200MK2 turntables and DJ mixer in 1995. 

Collecting vinyl and DJing led me to Platinum Records Seattle, an underground vinyl store,  where I worked from 2000 to late 2003, during a massive resurgence of rave culture in Seattle. During that time, I played multiple raves at old venues like NAF, Studio B, Club Insight, Club FX, and clubs/after-hours like Aero Space, Noc Noc, Liquid Lounge, Club Contour, etc. 

At the end of 2003 I starting working for Rane Corporation WA, a pro-audio/ DJ mixer company that was based in Mukilteo area from 1981 until the closing of the factory in 2016. While at Rane from 2003-2016, I worked as a Product Specialist, Technical Support, Product Clinician, Social Media Manager, Artist Relations, Beta Tester, Project Manager, and Product Design, and the designer of the infamous Rane MP2015 and Rane MP2014 rotary DJ mixers. 

Fast forward to today, I am still DJing, still raving, and now throwing underground parties in the Seattle area (ifykyk 😘). I'm a resident DJ for the Diffusion crew, Brit Jean Presents, and Blue Moon. I've been producing music under the name "Double Helix," a musical duo with my good friend Rob Ali, with two releases out (so far) on Deep Contour Music, and Seattle's own Uniting Souls Music!

Bio:
Brian Schatzel, Adastra, is a Seattle-based music producer and DJ, known for blending melodic-focused EDM with pop sensibility, both in the studio and with his dynamic, high energy DJ sets. With residencies at multiple Seattle nightclubs over the past five years, he has garnered experience adding his flexible style to a variety of genres.

When it comes to music production, Adastra, who's name comes from the Latin translation of "to the stars”, often focuses his sound around a sense of sci-fi euphoria. Exploring everything from future bass, trap, melodic dubstep, and even trance, his original music has earned features and releases on several music collectives/labels, blogs, and YouTube channels. The past couple years have seen his first official remix for Monstercat artist, Disero, and multiple releases on Seattle powerhouse label, Simplify Recordings. Most recently, his Apollo EP has received the attention and support of artists such as Tokyo Machine, Adventure Club, Caslow, and Brainheart.

Aside from producing and DJing, Adastra has always been an advocate of growing and supporting the local music community. Whether it's co-founding a music production club at the University of Washington (@empatuw), or maintaining his "PNW Producer Radio" Spotify playlist, Adastra is always looking for ways to help local artists and support his local scene.
