Pour cette première confiture de l’année 2024, j'ai un cadeau pour toi. J'ai concocté pour vous "No bad vibes", basé sur la chanson de Bobby Broom. Ce sont presque exclusivement des chansons soul des années 80 et il y a un peu de Quit Storm, Boogie, Funk et Jazz des archives pour vos oreilles. Il est préférable de rester sur le canapé et d'écouter certains de mes joyaux préférés.

Originally written by Roland Smith, produced by Mtume and released from the album Star Fire  released in 1983. 

Starfire’s single  “Young Free and Single” was one of the big soul tracks of the 80’s that came from the album of the same name.

Now two heavyweights in the dance industry have come together to bring their soulful house rendition of this classic. 

Jet Boot Jack, named 3rd best producer of 2023 by only good vibes awards his remixes of Bill Withers, Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Whitney Houston have amassed over 12million Soundcloud streams. 
He has collaborated with artist like Rozalla, Kathy Brown and Nightcrawlers and has original releases on labels like Midnight Riot, Tropical Velvet and Spa In Disco and produces albums exclusively for Mastermix, Europe’s largest DJ Only Pool.  

Jonathan Ulysses the Former Space Resident DJ nominated as Ibiza’s best DJ in DJ magazine 
with productions on labels like Toolroom, Nervous, Azuli, Jango, Se- Lek Music, Hotfingers and Zulu Records and has his own radio show on Release Radio DAB, as well as being head honcho of Ulybug Music. 


This Re-Rub of “Starfire” - “Young Free and Single” is a fun update of a classic. Keeping close with the original track which really captures the essence of the summer. The percussive drums loop that is the under belly of the track and rolling baseline that the ethereal vocals and rhythm that invites listeners too Dance. 

This is track is a soulful, funky weapon that is going to fit into any summer beach bar, Festival or Radio Show and back room disco dance floor.

Pour les plus anciens, vous vous souvenez sûrement de l’époque où on se baladait avec une boombox, ce gros poste radio double cassette qui pesait une tonne.
Moi aussi, j’en avais une sur l’épaule, balançant du son dans la rue (désolé aux passants de l’époque 😅).
C’était surtout de l’électro et du hip-hop, mais ça collait aussi parfaitement avec le groove funky des années 80.

From 1980 to 1992, I set Belgian nights alight behind the decks of legendary clubs—Spicy, Zoo, H₂O, Bush. Under the name Funky Town Brabant, I made dance floors vibrate to the rhythm of Funk, Soul, R&B, slow jams... There, music wasn't just a sound, it was a fever, a memory, a way of existing.
