Once again, starting is the hardest part but I will say it got easier. It just took close to a year... 
This season is going to be about support systems. In the past, I've overlooked how others teach us how to love ourselves. I'm welcoming myself back to the podcast just as much as I'm welcoming back returning listeners. We're starting this season with less self-judgment and more doing whatever feels right.

Bo also authored "Business Matters" a weekly business column in the Lansing State Journal for over five years, he has been published in Entrepreneur Magazine and numerous other business publications, and presents on various business issues regionally. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwood University, a Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University.

Hello, this is Bob Hundley from FollowBobOnline.com, where I am dedicated to helping you grow your online business.

In this talk I'd like to focus on the pros and cons of network marketing.

Depending on who you talk to, network marketing is either the greatest thing since sliced bread, or it is the biggest scam system ever created.

Typically the response you get is a function of how much money the person you're talking to is making with a given network marketing business opportunity.

What I mean by this is that the top earners in any network marketing company will look at you like you're crazy because of the monster sized checks they receive from this business model.

The same holds true for people who make anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars per month because they use this money for a lot of different reasons including paying for a car, covering monthly expenses, as well as vacations.

The people who hold the most negative opinions of network marketing unfortunately are the ones who never figured out how to make this business model work effectively for themselves, and who have never made any real money to speak of.

There is a reason why this is true that we will cover in another talk.

In the meantime, here are 10 pros and cons of network or multi-level marketing that you should be aware of because knowing this information will help you decide if this business model is right for you.

Here are the pros:

1. Network marketing is a business model that has been proven for decades.

As a result of having been around for as long as it has, this is a very obvious testimony to the effectiveness and viability of this method for making money.

After all, the business world is very efficient at rewarding ideas that work, and weeding out those that don't.

2. It's easy to get started.

The beauty of the network marketing business model is that the barrier to entry is very low in terms of the costs involved as well as the experience required.

If you have limited startup capital available for your new business venture, network marketing might be just what the doctor ordered because at a minimum, you only need to complete a distributor form, and possibly a small application fee, and you're off and running.

This is a very attractive feature when you look at the cost of staring a brick and mortar business such as a franchise opportunity, where startup costs can run well into the thousands of dollars before you make your first sale.

3. You have a great support system.

Companies that provide network marketing opportunities know that the key world and foundation of their business is the network of distributors who sign up to earn an income.

As a result of this realization, the companies know that they have to provide an extensive support system that will help distributors grow and expand their knowledge and experience through things like daily motivational calls, training, events and the like.

Franchise opportunities provide fairly extensive training, but the sense and feeling of belonging to a community of like minded people with network marketing is much greater than what you will typically find in a franchise business.

4. The biggest pro of all for network marketing is - passive income.

This is by far the BIG draw that has always attracted people to this business model, and always will.

After all, who doesn't want to do the work once and get paid on it again and again in the future.

This is exactly the model that insurance salesmen use when they sell you a policy.

And keep in mind that unlike linear income where you trade time for money, network marketing is a true business model because you can still make money, even when you aren't working the business.

How many businesses can make and back up this claim?

Arguably, not very many.
