It’s always there…  Always unkind
Always Hidden… Stalking your mind
A Constant distraction… Constantly defies
That constant irritant… That mote in your eye

In dreams it waits…  Dreams with no end
Dreams that haunt… You can’t apprehend
That fear you know… The fear you believe
A fear of what’s next… That never leaves

There’s no point complaining or trying to explain
I can’t escape the torment, shelter from this reign   
It’s not like I haven’t tried, or pretended not to care
But I can’t avoid myself, it’s always there

It’s how I see… And how I react
How I think… Helpless to adapt
A nagging within…  Twisting my soul
Angst and unease… Beyond my control

Sometimes… I can’t let it go

 In a quiet leather quiver,
I’ve been waiting for the day
When the bowstring calls my name
And I finally fly away.

I’m a lonely wooden arrow
Dreaming of the sky so clear—
Made for one brief, burning moment
As I hunt the silent deer.

I hear whispers from the forest,
Feel the hunter drawing near—
Every heartbeat stirs my longing,
Every footstep echoes fear.

Better one true flight of freedom
Than a lifetime lying here.

I’m a lonely wooden arrow
Reaching for the sky so clear—
May my one bright flight reveal me
As I chase the silent deer.

The only question is what to do with the time your given
Never knowing how many dawns are left in your vision
You cannot bargain for more seasons to breath it in

All you have is fragile, fleeting just this moment 
All you get is now searching for atonement

Time marches on renewing its shame
Every ‘Later’ you say are dreams that break

A villain in the story compassionate or cruel
In three hundred years would you drink the potion
Can you comprehend love and devotion
When ego shouts wisdom whispers fluent
