Headz-Mix 2025-11 [**FREE DL IN DESCRIPTION**]

What is an acetylene battle?  Is it really people fighting each other with acetylene fueled torches?  

Sure.  Could be.  

The real answer, at least as far as today's Interbay track is concerned, is that it is what my temporary project name was when the first version of this track was first being put together.  Those were the words that came to mind when I originally heard the sounds and the beats that I decided to work with.  

It felt tough, edgy, abrasive.  Whatever artistic instinct it is that puts words and ideas in my head when deealing with some abstract information--that's what found the words for what I was hearing.  

And then, in proud Interbay tradition, I ran with it.  

This is another in a dwindling supply of tracks that I'd considered finished and waiting for a music video to be made for it so I could post it on Facebook...when I decided to stop posting on Facebook and switched to SoundCloud, where I didn't have to create a music video just to share a song.  This was in May 2024, when I made the switch--so this track dates back well before that.  

I've been going through that cache of nearly ready to go tracks every so often since starting to post here on SoundCloud--and there aren't many left.  

I did just say "nearly ready to go" just there--because, though I thought it was finished...for the standards and expectations I had for the experiments I would post on Facebook.  However, the standards and expectations I put on tracks I'm willing to post here on SoundCloud are different (which has lead to the RRR program, which drops rethink, remake, remixes of former Facebook experiments...every Monday (so far!))  So, this track did need revisiting--as it did not have any vocal elements, and every SoundCloud track is required to have that...

That revisiting done, it is finally time for the "Acetylene Battle" to begin!  Maybe it can infuse some energy in you, make your fire burn a little brighter, and power you through the middle of the work week!  (This track is dropping on a Wednesday--if you're not listening to Interbay tracks on the day they drop, then this might not apply to you.  But why AREN'T you listening to Interbay tracks on the day they drop????  Aren't you following this page?  In the words of Lawrence from Lost in the Pond, "DO THAT NOW.")

A deep, tech-driven slice of intelligent broken beats. Packed with precision percussion, evolving atmospheres, and a groove that pulls you straight in. 

The Soil Pattern

Interbay posts a new track every single day (so far!)--eventually, there simply won't be anything left to write a song about.  

"Hold my chocolate milk," says Interbay.  

So, what is today's Interbay track about?  

It's about a font.  A typeface.  (I know I shouldn't use them interchangeably, but I don't know the difference or which one is correct in this useage, so...better to be safe than story, I used 'em both!)  

I will warn you in advance that this song has a rather short lyric sheet.  It is just the word "helvetica", repeatedly.  

I'd actually written an ode to this font--full lyrics, and everything.  But when I had it voiced, I fell in love with this one particular delivery of the title word.  I dumped the rest of the words and just ran with the one I really liked.  

I think it gives the track almost a witch house feel, without trying to hard.  It sounds like she's chasing someone named Helvetica through some dark woods, mocking her...and letting her know that she's in a lot of danger.  Maybe, she even deserves to be?  

We know what Helvetica did last summer, she hung out with mean girls.  

The mocking energy actually came to this track before the title or any of the words did.  The soprano sax line had this nagging vibe to it...and, serendipity, that line matched up with the vocal delivery of the title that I embraced.  

Again, the haunting and slightly spooky vibe to this came together rather naturally.  

Beyond that, you've got some synth arps, some deep and thick bass, and tight breakbeats--for that big beat sound of the 90s.  

So, not your normal everyday dance track...but, what were you expecting?

DJ and radio host on Radio Z 95.8 Nuernberg/Germany (Radioshows “Limbo Rhythm” and “Headz”).

As DJ he has performed since 1992 in the Franconian surroundings, however, also in Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria… Moreover he was booked for events such as the IFA International Radio Exhibition Berlin and the biggest European Youth Fair “YOU”, also in Berlin.
Dr.Best himself considers his roots in the Hip Hop Sound of the early 80’s to the mid 90’s, but he also dealt with other styles such as Funk, Soul, Acid Jazz, Trip Hop, Big Beat, House, Drum & Bass and Breakbeat. Over a couple of years he has been known in the German Clubscene as a Breakbeat-DJ, then in 2006, however, his style started to mutate… Styles such as Funk, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, Latin, Afrobeat and Disco got mixed with his Breakbeat Sound and created a new mixture which cannot be easily tagged any more.
