Toxic Sound #Mix by D'N'Beast

This podcast series was created to help define and broaden the Asphalt Records sound, ethos and sonic etiquette, and the latest installment of the series does just that, and masterfully so. Madrid based, but Zaragozan born, Rachael’s bio and online presence are so sparse, as prolific is her gigs list and podcast appearances, which leads us directly to a sole truth: in this age of pathologic egotistical behavior, hiper-self branding, and fake humbleness, she lets the technics do the talking, which is frankly refreshing to say the least. 
 
The artist has been storming the most underground and adventurous cabins since a good while now, imprinting her furious blend of high-bpm-breakbeats, sharp and banging drums, dystopian atmospheres and sci-fi melodies which conform now her sonic imprint, no matter the speed or style she is playing. Not only that, but she has been doing it the hard way, the way of the vinyl only, which in a present full of dj aids and compressed digital formats, makes her a music romantic on top of a hardened dj, such commitment saying a lot about her personality and activist dedication to a dying craft. 

Her mix for Asphalt is tribal, deep and mental, rich in percussive minimalism, with influences between autonomic heritage and with a modern take on the noir tech-steppism of Source Direct and Photek, and evolves into modern jungalist roughness and recent dread mutations, unto the fringes of the sonic experimentation: always pushing forward, always with a dark and twisted narrative edge, always embedded in the nuum’s chemical nightmares and paranoias. 

This mix in particular was thought after the effects of the technologic alienation provoked by digital devices, and as framing, here below is an alternative tracklist provided by Rachael herself, so throw your phone and turn on your speakers, it’s time for going back into the matrix.

The Ginyu Force is an Austrian drum&bass crew formed by http://soundcloud.com/bowsar, http://soundcloud.com/apotheist, Orbb, Evolver and Urpgor. 

The crew was founded in 2004 in Austria by Orbb, Temujin, Evolver, Urpgor and Bowsar.
After their first performances in a small venue called Culture X Club, they became quite popular on a local level. They also played at events near their hometowns and got a loyal following. In 2005 they first played in the Austrian capital, Vienna. With 3 big events they enlarged their popularity. These events saw big international names such as Audio, Unknown Error, http://soundcloud.com/Jadednb and http://soundcloud.com/Misanthropnsgsl, with whom they shared the stage.

At the same time they also started producing their own tracks. As time passed production skills increased. In 2006, first tunes were released.

After 2006, it got quite around the Ginyu Force.
In 2008 Apotheist joined the crew. He expanded the musical spectrum of their parties with dubstep and minimal techno.

Voidloss: " el caballero de lo oscuro"  as they call him in Spain, is a producer much respected in the underground.
His musical life is extended, starting in industrial bands, moving on to putting on illegal raves as part of the seminal London underground counter cultural movement United Systems, through commercial techno and back into the murky underground of experimental/industrial techno.
Always known to be someone working on the fringes, in the shadows, a true underground artist, Voidloss has become a name associated with progression, a high production aesthetic,  emotional extremes, of euphoria and darkness, with iconic releases on both high profile and underground labels.  His own label Singularity Recordings pushes forward and explores the dark and experimental, leading edge of techno, championing other artists working with a similar aesthetic of uniquity, artistry and underground mentality.
His Live PA`s take people on a deep emotional journey, both for the soul and for dancefloor, breaking genre rules, remaining ahead of expectation.  And his releases and label philosophy continue to be a strong force for individuality and dissent amongst a sea of compliance.

Eric Hull, a.k.a. E-Sassin, is a native of Los Angeles with a far-reaching background in many different styles of music.  He began his musical journey in the late ‘70s as a drummer in progressive rock and jazz/fusion bands.  After moving through the heavy metal scene of the ‘80s, E-Sassin was introduced to the electronic dance music scene in 1989 through the techno/ rave culture.  Once he started producing dance music, everything fell into place and he has built a reputation as one of the top DJ/ Producers of drum and bass in America.  

In 1992 E-Sassin produced and self-released a techno album, which got the attention of Sunshine Records.  They approached E-Sassin to work with the groups L.A. Rave and The Movement.  For a year and a half E-Sassin toured with The Movement all over the world.  It was during this time that he was first exposed to jungle, which was just breaking away from the breakbeat hardcore scene.  By 1996, E-Sassin had made the transition into producing only drum and bass tracks.  Drum and bass music wasn’t widely accepted in the States and very few domestic labels were releasing any of it, so E-Sassin founded Sound Sphere Recordings late in ’96 to get his musical productions out to the masses.  Sound Sphere was one of the pioneering labels for drum & bass in America, especially the west coast with the first two releases receiving very positive feedback and quickly establishing a high level of credibility for the label and for E-Sassin’s productions.  Each subsequent release has continued to elevate Sound Sphere to new heights, which in turn has gained the label well earned respect from artists and DJs across America and throughout the rest of the world.  Many of Sound Sphere Recordings’ releases have appeared on high-profile compilations both nationally and internationally.

Over the years, E-Sassin has continued to build a strong following in the drum and bass scene with his top-notch productions, remixes and DJing. He has worked with, or done work for a myriad of artists including, Gridlok, Hive, the Phunckateck Crew, R.A.W., AK1200, 60 Channels, The Angel, Dom & Roland, Raiden, DJ SS and Dieselboy, among others. His work has been featured on both international and domestic labels including his own, Sound Sphere Recordings, as well as, Phunckateck Communications, Pneuma, Thermal, Titanium and Moving Shadow. E-Sassin also has a host of remix work with various labels and artists including, Palm Pictures, Human Imprint, Evil Base, Compound, Wax Tooth, World Domination, Priority, TerraFormat, SupaCrucial, Black Hoe, Dissected Culture, Renegade Hardware, Formation and Moving Shadow.
