My track for The Story of MIDIport! This is actually based on a much older sketch from late 2020. Throughout the first half of the track you can hear chopped up waves sounds. This was in the original sketch, and I was inspired by Nokia's Feather alert which I heard for the first time back then, which also uses that effect.

Fast forward to 2024, and I've started the MIDIport project. After some pondering, I eventually decide to take that older sketch, adapt it to Nokia's large bank and build upon the composition further. The 11/8 section is actually reworked from a sketch I had previously written for this project. As for the composition itself, it's like jazzy R&B with some influences from 70s electronica and IDM. I hope you enjoy it!

Working with Beatnik Editor + loopMIDI is a pain though. :(

"As the director of this album, I aimed to compose a track that would fit the sonic vision I had in mind. It's a mellow blend of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. I combined influences from Western tech product music/sounds and Japanese VGM, and overall I think it fits the Frutiger Aero aesthetic well. I was particularly inspired by the works of Wataru Ishibashi and Hannu af Ursin for this track.

I got MB to play the acoustic and electric guitar on this, as well as bass; he did a great job. It's quite different from the music I've been making in recent times, but it was a fun challenge!

Unfortunately, I lost the final project file for this track, as it was overwritten with an older copy while reorganizing files. Oops! I guess this track has taught me a lot of things, from acoustic mixing to file management."

Catnip Island

This is my first time contributing to a Technomarina project, so it's pretty nice to contribute something contemporary. I tend to lean heavily into Minimalism in my music since I ingrained the philosophy of "less is more" and doing everything by hand. While the title is "Skyscape", I actually got inspiration from my past going through beaches and going outdoors taking in my surroundings. I hope you guys enjoy it!
