“Honest Self” started after a real, no-filter conversation with a good friend about what it actually means to be honest with yourself.

That night, something clicked. I realized how often we tell ourselves what we want to hear just so we can keep going, little lies that keep us trapped in the same patterns, the same guilt, the same stuck life that doesn’t move us forward. I went for a walk, started talking out loud to myself, and when I came back, this song started pouring out.

Writing “Honest Self,” I had to face something hard: I was beating myself up for things I had no control over. I was living for the crowd, chasing hollow dreams, nodding “yes” to everything, and then resenting myself when I couldn’t carry it all. But when I peeled back the layers, really looked in the mirror, I realized I wasn’t doing as bad as I kept telling myself I was.

This song is about that turning point. It’s the moment you stop sugarcoating your pain, but you also stop lying about your worth. It’s learning to say “no,” putting down weight that was never yours to carry, and discovering that your “honest self” is actually kinder, stronger, and freer than the voice that’s been beating you up for years.

Underneath it all, “Honest Self” is also about being found, by God, in the middle of that mess, and realizing He’s not agreeing with your harshest thoughts. He’s pulling you out of them.
