 tegen de felle lichten van Carré.
Stad gemeten aan onze voetstappen, 
aan de omtrek van fietswielen,
aan het aantal kroegen dat na middernacht nog open is,
vol van vrije geesten
die het volgende hoofdstuk bedenken 
in het boek van de Democratie,
Het volgende hoofdstuk in een volkssymfonie,
wilde verzameling van chaos en wanorde 
met een hart van symmetria prisca.
