A little over a month ago, I was taking a walk with a friend on the day of this year’s summer solstice. I didn’t know a ton about the true definition of a solstice, but he encouraged me to take a moment to myself to observe and welcome the shift that happens when the sun is at it’s highest point. 

Solstices represent transitions - serving as life’s checkpoints where the sun seems to pause for a brief moment in time, allowing us to take a moment to reflect on our journey and welcome in the bright light of our future. They invite us to slow down, come home to ourselves, and let our feelings speak.

Rooted in my love for R&B and refined by beats of afro tech and progressive house, this set speaks to the many transitions we go through in life and how the acceptance of change is not only essential - it’s sexy. Even though we’ve passed through this summer’s solstice, I invite you to take a moment, listen, and embrace the ebbs and flows of how bright your life burns and how softly it dims (+ shake some ass!).

I wrote this MUSICAL ILLUSION based on BRANDY and MONICA "THE BOY IS MINE". I wanted to CREATE this ILLUSION from a MALE perspective. I WANTED this ILLUSION to SOUND very TRADITIONAL R&B. I can TRULY imagine TANK and JAMIE FOXX killing this DUET. OR even USHER and CHRIS BROWN singing this together. THE reason I used the term "BALL" is based on the NEW LINGO that the NEW GENERATION is saying. DDG created the TERM and I was like "THAT would sound FIRE on a R&B track". SO who will WIN the GIRL after all?

I call MYSELF [KUNT MERMAID] because the way I SWIM through VIBES the MERMAID in me just stay so KUNT. A MERMAID uses the ability of a SIREN SONG to LURE in their PREY and my SONGS can be very CONVINCING. DON'T drown trying to SWIM with the KUNT MERMAID.

Alessio Moricca aka Fobys (Siracusa, 1994) is the official resident DJ of Catania's cultural and events platform Aitho Entertainment. His talent is capable of  itself on both turntables and cdjs, with an impeccable technique that is by no means taken for granted lately. Today, thanks to his continuous research and skills, he is undoubtedly one of the best DJs on the island (Sicily) and a point of reference for discovering new artists and producers, especially during Aitho’s events where he has already shared the stage with artists such as DJ Nigga Fox, Carista, Jarreau Vandal, Alvva, Yas Reven and Cezaire. His long and deep connection with music, which began with hip hop, has led him, over the past five years, to develop a personal style able to break down the boundaries between different musical genres with great fluidity. It is certain that during one of his sets you will find yourself immersed in a sonic journey that mixes club sounds with Latin rhythms, electronic music and UK influences such as garage and drum and bass.
