-I owe my affection for this piece to some other cover artists who showed me the light, and power of everything amelodic. It was a first for me! I wouldn't mind trying to write on someday.

-I was super excited to put this final form of the song together. Every nod to the Ikanan Ball made me giddy, and even the Elegy of Emptiness got to speak up! I'm very grateful that this piece was a part of this project.

-It's a short piece, but I think it checks out. I'm more fond of it than I expected to be by the time it was completed.

-As I was building my instrument list for Deku Palace, Ook's melody turned into a test of sorts, and by the end of it I couldn't help but include this bit into the song. I'm quite fond of it now.

-I like this piece. Always have. Baking it into the plot was never a question of "if" for me. I probably overplay it, but I really don't care!

-It's hard to not play all your built-up ideas at once when you sit down to make a song. I did not do well at making a calmer version of this for what felt like weeks. Managed in the end, though!

Ikana is Dead

-I never liked this song. What possessed me to steer the story in a way that force me to cover it, I couldn't tell you. I still don't LOVE the song, but... it can stay. It's taught me some things I know I needed to learn. It's grown on me.

-I used to roll my eyes and insist that the masses needed to move on from this song. I don't feel that way anymore.

-While not the song's final form, this was always the version of the song I dreamed of when writing Madrigal's plot. In a sort of irony, this is the only version of the song that didn't make it into the story. Thank you for giving this piece some life elsewhere!

Ikana Lives

-Bellum challenged me, as a song. I wanted to go somewhere different instrument-wise, and mimic some of that otherworldly discomfort that Tears of the Kingdom had done so prominently. Certainly a struggle I'll come back to.

-I feel like this song was just begging to be used in a tabletop setting. I get a kick out of it every time.

-I once dreamed that every combat song, if not every song in Madrigal, would be able to cycle through instruments to accentuate each protagonist as we played. This dream was a bit ambitious for me, but this song's vertically variable bridge is a relic of than dream, still appearing every once in a while.

-I originally hoped to recreate more of the iconic opening pieces and have them rotate through to keep things from getting stale, but that ended up not ever being an issue. This cover exists as a relic of a fear that got put to rest very very quickly!
