Inspired by Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner's new comic series "Feral," as well as my own personal fear of infectious diseases. The narration at the end is my own, lifted directly from the end of the first issue. The title refers to the pathology term “incubation period” — that is, the time between when a host is infected and when they first begin to display outward symptoms.

Also, first new piece of music made on my new iPhone! Yeah I still do stuff on occasion, and there might be more stuff as the series goes on.

Incubation

Been really busy, but now that I have a sufficient backlog I feel comfortable posting the rest of the music I've made inspired by Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner's new series Feral -- starting here with what I feel would be its main theme. You'll see me return to this motif quite a bit.

[Side note, that rit. part at the end is something I have to dial in myself, since Garageband doesn't do mid-track tempo changes. It is what it is, but I feel great being able to pull it off manually.]

If anyone wants to put together a comic dub, please do reach out! I have all the music you could ever want for the first chapter, and I've made good headway on the other four that are currently out! As of writing this, the trade paperback just came out, and issue 6 is out on the 25th of this month, so either way I'm excited for the future!

Feral

Rabies being the nearest thing nature has to a zombie virus, I wrote this track with the logic of an old-timey zombie movie. It's the last track I wrote for Feral's first chapter, and I'm proud of pretty much every part of it except the sliding violins. They sound kinda off to me, but I'm not in a position to figure out what else would go in those two spaces.

I'm REALLY proud of how that theremin synth turned out, though. Because of how Garageband works, in order for it to turn out the way it does I had to play the whole thing in one take. (That's why it's only four notes in a repeating pattern!) Regardless, I love how it came out!

Chronologically, the next song would be the one I already uploaded, "Incubation," so... yeah, that about does it for Feral's first chapter! Volume One is out now, please pick up a copy! Support your local comic book shop!

On loan from a private collection, this ultra-rare acetate captures Theremin Theo—the enigmatic air-composer of the Atomic Age—conducting his orchestra through a track that shouldn’t exist. 

"Radio Discothèque" predates the electronic disco genre by more than two decades, yet its shimmering beat patterns point unmistakably toward the dance-floor future. 

Visitors are encouraged to imagine a world where synth-pop seeds were planted under art deco lights and Cold War antennas.

So, step closer to the projection wall and you’ll see the only known surviving photograph of Theo mid-performance, hands suspended within the electromagnetic field.

Scholars still debate whether he intended the piece as satire, prophecy, or pure sonic experimentation. What’s certain is that this recording offers a rare glimpse into a parallel musical timeline—one where disco’s pulse was first summoned not by a drum machine, but by a man shaping invisible currents in the air.
