THE SUMMER OF 1978
CHILDREN OF THE SAME FIRE

1978 summer burned into memory,
Spanish coast camping by the sea,
Children running barefoot free,
Small gas stoves quietly.

No one felt the fire coming,
Tanker rolling down the road,
Liquid propane overload.
Tank split open gas cloud spread,

One small flame, the world turned red.
Wall of fire burning higher,
Tents and caravans turned to flame,
People screaming, none the same.

Bodies running to the sea,
Some would never be free.
Two hundred fifteen lost that day,
Summer turned the sky to grey.

That same summer far away,
Twelve year old boy in Leuven lay.
Childish game, gasoline fire,
Burn ward shadows growing higher.

Two young girls in beds nearby,
Children of the same fire cry.
Children of the same fire,
Children of the same fire.

Echoes in the distance, screams collide,
Nightmares rise up where innocence died.
Flames dancing madly, devouring the past,
In the blaze of summer, fate was cast.

Horrors unseen, always on repeat,
Memories pictured in ashes and heat.
A landscape of ruin as the smoke fills the sky,
Listen to the whispers of the innocent cry.

Children of the same fire, we will stand strong,
Rising from the ashes, where we belong.
Through the shadows of loss, we’ll ignite the flames,
Children of the same fire, we remember their names.

From the ashes they rise, spirits reborn,
In the heat of the night, we still mourn.
Ghosts of the fire, won't be forgotten,

Tainted by flames, but united in grief,

A powerful story about the 1978 disaster and a boy in Leuven, bound by the same fire — loss, trauma, and memory, but also the strength to keep living as children of the same fire.

Ausgetauscht haben wir uns diesmal mit Maik von den Hamburgern MESSTICATOR, die mit ihrem neuen Album erneut ziemlich viel Staub aufwirbeln werden und Olaf begeisterten, so dass er mit Kongo Uwe über Musik, Kiez-Begebenheiten und Fußball-Rivalitäten innerhalb des Bandgefüges sprechen durfte.

“Music you don’t just hear — you feel.”

Music has always been more than sound — it’s something I feel.
If it gives me goosebumps, it matters. That’s the only rule.

My roots are deeply embedded in Progressive Metal, but my taste goes way beyond that. From Thrash, Death, Doom, Power, Speed and Heavy Metal to Punk & Hardcore, I embrace everything with raw energy and soul. At the same time, I’m drawn to darker atmospheres like Darkwave, Gothic and 80s electronic sounds, inspired by bands like Depeche Mode.

But it doesn’t stop there — I also dive into Drum & Bass, World Music, Folk, Reggae, and even Kleinkunst. Years of festivals shaped my ears and my heart — I don’t listen with genres, I listen with emotion.

I’ve lived the music too:
Former guitarist in a Death/Thrash band,
and for many years the frontman of a Power/Prog Metal band.

Some of my all-time influences include:
Fates Warning, Threshold, Testament, Death Angel, early Queensrÿche, Crimson Glory, King’s X, Galactic Cowboys, Mindfunk…
but also Hooverphonic, Laïs, Värttinä and so much more.

Outside of music:
I’m into Japanese cars, festivals, concerts, vintage audio gear and vinyl records — the real sound, the real experience.

And yeah… I’m a cat person 🐾
Maine Coons especially. We lost our beloved Keely, but now Beau — our big black gentle giant — carries that spirit forward, together with the rest of the crew.

Brazilian Technical Thrash Metal band founded in the city of Marau, state of Rio Grande do Sul in 2019,  with influences from classic thrash and death metal bands such as Dying Fetus, Death, Exodus, Cannibal Corpse, Sodom and so on, also influenced by more recent bands such as Beyond Creation, First Fragment, Archspire, Obscura, Deficiency and many others.

The band is in process of the release of its first album, called "Questionable Existence", with the release of a few singles taken from it beforehand to show the audience what to expect from the full length;
The lyrics of the album consist on questioning and triggering the listener to also question himself or herself about his or her own existence, talking about society, future, control, technology, politics and human mind, always working hard to put together what is being said on the lyrics with the instrumental.
