Baxie talks to legendary drummer Bruce Smith. Since 1979, Bruce has played with the insanely influential post-punk band The Pop Group, Public Image Ltd. with John Lydon, and The Slits. He’s also played with Terrance Trent Darby, The The, and Bjork as well! Bruce is currently involved with Ashes and Diamonds—the incredible Super Group with Daniel Ash from Bauhaus, Tones on Tail, and Love and Rockets, and Sade’s bass player Paul Denman. After seven years together and loads of interruptions and restarts, their debut album “Ashes and Diamonds and Forever” is finally getting its long overdue release (10/31/25). Donny is one of the funkiest dudes to bless the decks! Brooklyn implant by way of Baltimore, a NYC favorited underground party spot, 'Space is the Place’ BKNY curator, Donny became a national staple throughout the 90’s & early 2000’s, and has been playing parties up and down the east coast & nationally for decades.
     Donny has been affiliated with B’more’s first techno/electronic record label, Defective Records (www.defectiverecords.com) since ’94, along with being co-founder/resident DJ of DeepSugar Parties (www.sugarparty.org) with Ultra Nate' at the legendary Club Paradox (www.thedox.com) in Baltimore, MD.
     Donny has always had his ear to the underground and has been influential in keeping the underground vibes alive in Brooklyn.  His musical range runs very deep and is a sure crowd pleaser.
