as we've reached the end of july and look towards august, the weeks past provided some nice moments. time spent with family, grilling anything and everything for dinner each night. walks around my home town in the ‘golden hours’ of the evening. there’s a certain tranquility about that, which counters the noise of new york, oh so well.

Sundays are for... [Jul/24]

Twisted tendrils, organic growth, and murky jungle scenes all spring to mind while listening to the forthcoming Hypersonic Macrobiomas EP by R-010 on Obtuse Swamp. The Madrid based producer stretches his auditory muscles to showcase a wide range of moods throughout the release that build upon dynamic sound design, half time tempos and deft uses of melody to propel listeners into a whirlwind of feelings.

One of two remixers on the release (the other being a fellow Spaniard, Absis) is Berlin native, Toxido Mask. Her take on R-010’s ‘Thermoplastic Skins’ dives deeper into the abyss, as bass lines swell and stuttery percussion lines pick away - both contributing to a frenetic tension that just needs to be released.

Hypersonic Macrobiomas will be out in its entirety on the 19th of December via the Barcelona based imprint, Obtuse Swamp.

Toxido has been on our radar for a while, and for good reason. She’s one of those artists who doesn’t just play music—she builds entire worlds with it. From weightless ambient to brain-twisting halftime to relentless techno, she moves through sounds with the precision of someone who truly gets it. Every mix, every track she touches feels like it was put together with care, with intention. You don’t just listen—you experience it.

And this mix? You’re gonna want to sit with this one. Or better yet, stand up—because the moment you hit play, you won’t be sitting for long. It’s DJing at its finest: sharp, fluid, and impossible to ignore. The flow is effortless, the energy is undeniable. One minute, you’re locked into a hypnotic halftime groove; the next, you’re riding a wave of rolling techno that hits in all the right places. It never loses its grip. You won’t want it to.

It’s no surprise Toxido Mask holds down a residency at Tresor—she plays like she was born for it. But she’s not just shaping dancefloors; she’s shaping the scene itself, overseeing the artistic direction of OMM Transmission, the evolution of the Catharsis series.

Art Bei Ton celebrates its 7th Anniversary with the release of its 7th compilation. Showcasing the sounds of talented international artists, [𝙰𝙱𝚃-𝚅𝙰⁰⁰⁷] brings together an 8-track journey, evolving from dark mystical atmospheres to deep and hypnotic tunes.

Starting the journey with some atmospheric ambient, the Japanese artist Menou embarks the listener on her spaceship for a cosmic exploration of spatial soundscapes, evoking a deep sense of introspection.
Bringing some half-time dreamy vibes, the talented Spanish producer ABSIS offers us an immersive journey, weaving together hypnotic elements and subtle rhythmic pulses, blending downtempo, minimalism and ambient sounds.

With this ritualistic tune, A.DENIAL takes us on a sonic trance, building up the intensity through percussive beats that echo like the heartbeat of an ancient ceremony.
The German artist AXOON takes us on a spacious sonic odyssey, navigating through dark, mystical atmospheres and trippy sounds that stretch the boundaries between dream and reality.

Through her track "Sekhmet," Toxido Mask delivers a powerful hypnotic groove, blending deep basslines with mesmerizing elements to craft the perfect trippy techno track for the dancefloor.
Berlin-based DJ and producer Josef Gaard guides us through his sonic universe, where pulsating rhythms and ethereal atmospheres move effortlessly between dark and uplifting hypnotic depths.

With this deep and resonant track, the Indian artist Vishal Unni composed a hypnotic journey to create a meditative space with driving rhythms and trippy elements.
Closing this VA with an uplifting trancy track, the Italian artist Terminal Sync takes us on a dream-like journey through vibrant melodies and ethereal soundscapes.

Deftly merging her background in sound design with techno and its real world applications, Toxido Mask is a shadowy DJ/Producer who calls Berlin home and has been challenging the fringe of her craft for over a decade. Art Bei Ton is an artistic project focusing on merging electronic music and visual arts, though the promotion of events, podcast series and a label.  

Organizing events in Berlin and Europe since 2018, our goal is to create some immersive experiences, offering Hypnotic Techno/Ambient DJ sets and live acts, together with VJing, art exhibition, interactive audio-visual installations, performances, panels and workshops.  

Curating international artists, we want to embrace more inclusivity in the scene through the promotion of diverse and gender-balanced line ups. It is important for us to highlight female artists, queer actors of our community and fight together against all kinds of discrimination.
