Alex Voisine interviews today Amanda Sarasien. Born in Tennessee) she is a writer, literary translator, and visual artist. Her translation of Springtime in the Bones by Állex Leilla will be published in March 2026 by Foreshore Books. She translates from French and Portuguese into English and was a 2022 National Endowment for the Arts Translation Fellow. They speak about the role of the translator, to work in translation, art and literature with a disability and many other topics.

In this podcast, doctoral candidate Evangeline Scarpulla speaks with translator Marta Olivi. During the conversation we discuss Marta’s four major English to Italian translation projects: Canta Ancora, Ragazza (2022), a translation of Jacqueline Roy’s The Fat Lady Sings (2000);  L’Antropocene Inconscio (2022), a translation of Mark Bould’s The Anthropocene Unconscious (2021); Paradiso Terrestre (2024), a translation of Laura Vandenberg’s State of Paradise (2024); and selected poems from Molly Brodak's The Cipher (2020). Olivi also talks about her approach to translation work, the intersections between translation and academic research, and the importance of translation in today's transnational literary landscape. The EUTERPE: European Literatures and Gender from a Transnational Perspective Doctoral Network program is a joint project of eight universities from across Europe and the UK. EUTERPE is an educational and research project bringing together gender and transnational perspectives within an interdisciplinary framework of literary and cultural studies, and thus offering an innovative approach to rethinking European cultural production in the light of complex social and political negotiations that are shaping European spaces and identities at present. 

The EUTERPE podcast series features interviews between the consortium Doctoral Candidates and contemporary transnational feminist authors, translators, and literary critics.
