Transylwanię owianą legendami, zatopioną w mrocznych dziejach hrabiego Drakuli, odwiedziłem już wielokrotnie, przemierzając górskie szlaki, penetrując zamki i jaskinie, słuchając echa w imponujących wąwozach. 

Z osikowym kołkiem zapoluj ze mną na Drakulę, wejdź po 1480 stopniach do ruin zamku Vlada Tepesa, zapuść się do wiosek, gdzie czas się zatrzymał a ludzie nie zapomnieli, czym jest zwykła życzliwość. Pojedź ze mną samochodem terenowym w poprzek przez Karpaty i dowiedz się, dlaczego nie da się zatrzasnąć drzwi w schronisku pod Vladeasem.

In 1568, during a period of intense religious violence in Europe, King John Sigismund III of Hungary issued a decree granting unprecedented religious freedom to his country’s people. Imagine a group of women spreading the news to everyone in their village, quoting from this historic decree, the Edict of Torda. Sung in Hungarian and crafted in the style of Eastern European folk music, "Jó!" — meaning “it’s all good!” — carries a joyful message of tolerance that is still as relevant as ever.

Excerpt from The Edict of Torda (1568)

"Preachers shall propagate the Gospel in all places, according to their own understanding, and if the community is willing to accept, that's all well and good; if not, no one is allowed to press them to adopt it in spite of their not being reassured in their heart; but they may keep a preacher whose teachings they like.  And no one...may persecute them for this; no one is to be denounced or disparaged at on account of religion...  For faith is the gift of God, which comes from listening — listening to the words of God."

Tenor Valentin Borsu has earned international recognition for his distinctive vocal qualities showcased in various musical productions, bringing to life operatic roles such as Lenski –“Eugene Onegin”, (Tchaikovsky), Tamino – “Die Zauberflöte”, (Mozart), The Lover – “Amelia Goes to the Ball “(Menotti), Alfredo – “La Traviata” (Verdi), and Mylio – “Le Roy D’Ys’ (Lalo). Apart from the operatic repertoire, Valentin Borsu was cast in various Oratorio performances, including “The Messiah”, “Esther” (Handel), and “The Creation” (Haydn).
He has collaborated with various Opera Companies, based in Alberta, such as Opera Nuova, Calgary Concert Opera Company, Cowtown Opera, Grande Prairie Opera, and has sung with the Calgary Civic Symphony, Rosa Barocca and Rocky Mountains Symphony Orchestra.
In Europe, Valentin participated in various Master Classes held by celebrated Mezzosoprano Viorica Cortez, Spinto Dramatic Soprano Mioara Cortez, Conductor Marco Guidarini, Italian Soprano Capucine Chiaudani, and Dr. Deen Larsen (Franz Schubert Institute).
Valentin Borsu was an active participant in various Summer Academy Intensive Opera Programs, including Vincenzo Bellini Vocal Academy (France), George Enescu Vocal Master Class (Romania), Ardingly International Music School (United Kingdom), and Cowtown Opera Summer Academy.
He was a First Prize Winner with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) “Songfest” (2018), the sole Alberta National Finalist in Vocal Performance with the Canadian Music Competition “Canimex” (2016), as well as the Winner in the “Unsigned Only World Music Competition” (2015).
Valentin Borsu is an active artist in the Alberta community, and he has participated in multiple cultural and charitable events, such as Vibes of Romanian Music, Musical Extravaganza Gala, Mrs. Calgary Christmas Gala, European Film Festival Gala, Heritage Festival, and Alberta Strong Charity Concert.
He holds an Associate Diploma in Voice (ARCT) from the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as an Associate and Licentiate Diploma in Singing (ATCL/LTCL with Distinction) from Trinity-Guildhall College London (UK).
With a varied repertoire selection, and outstanding vocal capabilities, allowing expressive exploration of various Musical Genres ranging from Opera to Musical and Classical Crossover, Valentin Borsu is able to provide his audience with a real musical experience.
