Another group played a huge part in my early development as a guitarist. Living in the Bay Area in the 80s I saw this band numerous times and they always put on a great show. The first three Y&T albums had so many great tracks but I chose this one. The riffs and melody are amazing. With my tribute I tried to capture the essence of the track and throwing in some of my own ideas as well. I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed recreating it. MAMA KARLA (WITH A K) is an outlaw country thank-you note, written with a smile, a little grit, and a whole lotta love. It’s a true story about a woman who grew up kicking dust in Pelican town, raised a family on hard work and humor, and somehow managed to teach right from wrong without ever raising her voice too loud—or letting the world push her around.

This isn’t about legends or heroes carved in stone.
It’s about a real mama who worked her hands raw, laughed through the hard parts, stirred up just enough trouble to keep life interesting, and showed me how to stand up straight and sing my own song.

This song was written in real time, in the middle of grief, anger, and disbelief. It’s for a woman who should still be here, and for all of us who were told to look away, to doubt our own eyes, to accept a lie while the truth was still bleeding. This isn’t about politics as a game — it’s about what happens when power speaks louder than humanity, and when accountability is delayed while lives are erased. I didn’t write this to shock or to provoke, but to witness, to remember, and to say plainly what too often gets softened or rewritten. Justice doesn’t disappear just because it’s inconvenient. It waits. And so does the truth.

For a while now we’ve had this idea in our heads to dedicate a song to our artist friends on SoundClown… ehm… pardon… SoundCloud 😹
A platform that, for better or worse… and mostly for worse, thanks to its algorithm that seems to worship cacophony and paid reposts… there, we said it 🤟😹 … is actually a really beautiful place.
Yes, we still can’t believe we just wrote that.
About a month ago, maybe a little more, our new friend Clavdia, an amazing artist despite SoundClown, unknowingly pushed us to finally take this step with her song called Thank You SC (SC stands for SoundClown, obviously… right Claudia? 😹).
So here it is.
This song is dedicated to all our dearest SoundClown friends, all of you fantastic artists out there.
We’re not naming names because, first of all, we’d definitely forget someone, and second, it would be impossible to list you all without turning this description into some kind of endless papyrus scroll.

I used to go see these guys in the early 80s when they were originally called Legacy, at all the clubs in the bay area. It was before Chuck Billy joined and all they had out was DEMO 1 & 2. That demo and first album were a huge influence on my playing as is Alex Skolnick a monster of player. Here is my tribute to one of my favorite tracks from the demos and debut album. I took some creative liberties but stayed pretty true to source material. Enjoy!

Another excellent Bay Area band that was a huge influence on me. The thing that I liked about Heathen was that they were heavy but also very melodic. The guitar team of Doug Piercy and Lee Altus is a very under rated guitar duo. Another group that's still putting out quality metal.

She was the victim of a construction scam involving a contractor and a banker who acted improperly, allowing funds to be released unlawfully. Because of this, she’s now being forced to assume a construction loan she should never have owed — and cannot sustain.
As a result, the bank could seize her current home to recover losses caused by fraud she did not commit.
She has finally secured a lawyer who can fight this, but the legal fees are due very soon. Time is running out, and this is truly her last chance to defend herself and keep her family housed.

Songwriting has been a lifelong passion for me, dating back to elementary school when I first began crafting stories, poems, and eventually lyrics. As a former drummer in various bands, I always relied on others to bring my words to life musically. However, after a long hiatus from drumming, I decided to take the leap and learn to compose music to accompany my lyrics. Through classes and dedication, I've embarked on a new journey, breathing fresh life into old lyrics and penning new ones. You'll find a mix of older and newer works here. Especially for some of the lyrics. 

Music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is being completely entranced by 'The Little Drummer Boy' as a very young child. There was something about the rhythm and the melody that just captivated me. I must have played it a thousand times, wearing the record out, and from that moment on, I was hooked. I knew I wanted to be a drummer and to create that magic for others. 

But I was too young then, and of course, I couldn't afford a drum set just yet. So, I turned to writing as a way to express myself. As I mentioned above, I started with stories, then poems, and eventually, lyrics. I found that writing was not only a way to tap into my creativity, but also a way to process my emotions and experiences. 

As I grew older, my love for music only deepened. I realized that music has this incredible power to transport us to different times and places, to evoke emotions and memories that we thought were long forgotten. It's a universal language that can bring people together like nothing else can. 

For me, writing lyrics is a cathartic experience. It's a way for me to tap into my emotions, to process the world around me, and to create something that I hope will resonate with others. And when I hear my words come to life in a song, it's truly magical. It's a feeling that never gets old, and it's what keeps me coming back to music time and time again. 

I love many genres of music and artists of many genres. And if you listen to some of my songs, you will find that I like to make songs of different genres as well as mix different genres into each song. One of my all-time favorite bands is Evanescence, and I have made a lot of songs where I have tried my best to emulate that sound.
