I don't play punk rock anymore because it's all gone wrong due to general bad attitudes but more prominently a rise of right-wing extremism
At least that's the way it is in my local scene in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and I've developed a bad case of garrison mentality and I'm a persecuted poet
In a way this song could be considered punk
Punk's politically correct and not trying to be tough
You know that already but you're still doing your time because you want attention
This song is inherently punk
It would have to be punk because new wave's a thing
Punk has a history that was already complex about thirty-five years before you came to the scene
Your ignorance is a humiliation of the fifteen years I devoted to designing a unique musical style for my band
In all that time, what have you done?
So how can you criticize me?
I don't care about whether or not this song is punk
I just want to make quality material because my education is in music and I need to create a reliable source of income
I posted my song in the group because my music structurally traces back to punk roots
You're calling me a fake punk but I didn't claim to be anything, so shut the fuck up
The way this started was I got jumped by an older punk and bitched about it to the people in the local scene
You didn't care punks jumped kids
Sent me death threats and started rumors instead
You harassed me at clubs and on the road and over the phone and on the internet
You stood outside of my house at the end of my driveway stalking me and when I came out you left
It was clear that you all saw this as a fashion and the attitude was dead
At that point I had realized that punk wasn't on the left wing anymore
They've taken it from the democrats with brutal force
They've been saying that liberal punk is dead but those are Nazi poseurs who deserve to be killed
It's not my fault that they're wrong but I can't shut them up and they're spreading fake news everywhere
But I digress; I've been staying home and spending time alone writing songs
It doesn't cross my mind anymore that they soil a good environment in this city
This song's about those bigot freaks and other jocks who ruin the punk rock scene
They think they're influencing social change by smashing bottles in the streets
Through all their rhetoric there is one thing that is obvious to me: although you claim ACAB you'd call the cops if I actually punched you because you wouldn't last a day without police
Smack you cross-eyed and stupid
Smack you rustic
Give you permanent vision damage
That's what I want to do but I can't because I'll go to jail
I remember when liberal punk was alive and people at shows were honest and kind
I had an interest at that time but that was over ten years ago
I don't think about it anymore but sometimes I listen to the music and I say to myself "Too bad it died in this city"
As soon as I walked away I started liking punk again
Countless hours of television but I'm melting into my couch watching CNN
This song's about the neo-Nazi nuisance
Especially the ones in punk rock music in Winnipeg because I've never seen so much bigotry in my life
Through all the here say there is one thing I've found so clear
And like the virgin Mary in the sky it looks down at me with a smile, giving me hope that one day these motherfuckers might get what they deserve
The anger is an energy
You're a shoo-in more now than anyone ever before, so what more can I say?

We didn't get along because our ideas of punk are not the same
