In this track, you hear the sounds of a monochord tuned to C with me toning above it. I am toning the intervals of unison, a perfect fourth, a perfect fifth and a major third. This combination of intervals is known to ease anxiety thanks to the work of Dr. John Beaulieu. 

- The unison interval helps calm the mind and bring us into the present just as we are now. 
- The fourth interval helps ground over-hyper thoughts, down-regulates the amygdala, and brings us back to reality.
- The fifth is very harmonizing, balancing and stabilizing for the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. It releases nitric oxide which catalyzes the healing response and lifts depression.
- The major 3rd is motivating and expansive. It helps free the emotions and offers positive direction.

Discovered this gem through Modal Soul Classics by Nujabes — track 8, ‘Sound Network’ by Unison, a Serbian group I had never heard of before. But wow… everything about this piece spoke to me. The groove, the atmosphere, the subtle groove of the drums… it’s like every element fell into place with perfect harmony.

Nujabes had a rare gift for finding these timeless sounds, and this one’s no exception. Sharing this today as a small tribute — to his taste, his curiosity, and the way he opened doors to artists from across the world. Unison really delivered something special here. Glad I found it, and even more glad to pass it on.
