So here I am, happily an album older, introducing the first of Adamant's remix packages.

Since the whole project was, generally-speaking, "a personal affair" and a lot of the album was not necessarily "club-ready" (does that even make sense?), we invited our friends on board to do the dirty deeds for me and rework my sounds into something normal people can dance to.

First up are Mind Against. I've known these guys for a long time, and despite them being somewhat "new" to the scene, I clearly remember them fiddling around with cheap cracked software like the rest of us Milanese idiots around the same time. Matured into true synth magicians, they've been years in the making and, if you ask me, it shows.

Next is Alex Smoke, who I believe needs no introduction. Probably one of my biggest influences, I have been a fan for ages and he is the reason I discovered Vakant. In case you've been living under a rock, after a little break he's now back with a bang, responsible for probably one of the year's best LPs (as Wraetlic), an outstanding EP on the legendary R&S and now this. I've had the pleasure of finally meeting and hanging out with Alex a few times while we were both living in Berlin and I have to say he's exactly as awesome. His remix totally destroys my original, which I thought sounded "fat" but now sounds like a skinny girl in Barbie clothes in comparison.

Lake People (actually just one Lake Person, Martin Enke) is another really nice guy who just happens to make great music. After months of people telling me I should check his stuff out, mentioning we had a lot of things (sound-wise) in common, I had the pleasure of playing after him in Paris. His liveset totally rocked the place and I've been a fan since, so it was a pleasure to have him on board.

Last but not least, new Vakant boys Sons of Tiki round off the package with a club-oriented version of "Blackened".

I guess that's all. I'm not very good at this marketing hype thing, and upon re-reading this it actually made little sense, nor is it particularly inviting. Whatever the case I hope you enjoy listening, playing or partying to this as much as we did making it: I assure you the music is better than this writing.

Hey everyone,

It’s me again. I’m sipping coffee and staring at this Mac’s calendar, suddenly realising it’s already been more than 4 months since the release of “Adamant”. I think thank-yous are way overdue so I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge everyone involved in the project as these have been a really amazing four months.

Enough nonsense and let’s back to business, or the purpose of this text: I (drumroll) proudly present the final 5 re-interpretations from some talented friends.

It’s an honour for me to have Francesco’s techno, David’s modular madness, Jake’s synthwork and Martin’s melodies all in one package, but being both fan and friend of everyone on board I’d be blatantly biased in describing this record’s contents.

So, since it’s 2014, why don’t we switch banalities, skip the “description" and “let the music do the talking” (ugh, did I really just write that?)

​Romanian duo Livio & Roby supply their standout track ‘Tidal Reshape’ to Vakant’s ‘Tenacity’ compilation.

Showcasing the somewhat minimal, yet driving sound that’s been coming strong out of their native country’s underground scene, Livio & Roby fire off a mesmerizing display of rhythm and sophistication.

Ahead of the compilation’s release, Livio & Roby touched on what inspires them in the studio: “We find influence and inspiration in many forms, sometimes it can be the consequence of a freshly read book, a new movie or classical/jazz concert, new experiences, our friends and family also inspire us in many ways… One time we moved our studio gear to a mountainside in Romania and we started to create. We find sometimes it's necessary to move from your main space to have some fresh air and ideas. That's how we made ‘Tidal Reshape’”.

Composed of ten tracks, the ‘Tenacity’ compilation also features music from Alex Smoke, Sons Of Tiki, Anonym, Tolga Fidan, Nico Purman and Non-Operational People.

The ‘Tenacity’​ compilation is released on April 3.

In the darkest basement the cries echoed cheerfully in the black. As she wandered steadily forwards she began to hear the sound of drums and caught a glimpse of the frantic faces which hustled past her in the hallway. The lights began to flash and the music filled the little space. She had been warned about people like this, the dancers amidst the midnight hour. The love, enthusiasm and hectic disorientation had left her excited and wanting more. 

Avatism delivers a hard hitting EP on Vakant as he draws upon distant soundscapes and the hammer of drums.

Wer wirklich wissen möchte, wie die ostdeutsche House- & Techno-Szene tickt und tickte, hat in Markus Welby den denkbar besten Gesprächspartner gefunden. Denn seit 1989 treibt ihn der House- Virus überall dorthin, wo es brennt. Dies alles aufzuzählen wäre müßig und würde mehrere Seiten füllen. Festivals wie das Melt!-Festival, Sonne Mond & Sterne, Summer Spirit oder das Sonar Festival in Barcelona; jegliche Clubs ihrer Zeit von München bis Kiel, Frankfurt/Main bis Görlitz wurden von Ihm bespielt. Beginnend mit seiner Residency sowie als Mitgründer der Leipziger Distillery, zählt Markus Welby nach nunmehr über 30 Jahren zu den Szene-Aktivisten der ersten Stunde in Deutschland.

Beim „Melt!-Festival“ in der „City of Steel – Ferropolis“ ist er von der ersten an immer dabei und kann sogar getrost als Ur-Resident-DJ des qualitativ hochwertigtsen Open-Airs durchgehen. Seit 2003 unterstützt er „seine Liebe“: das Melt!-Festival ausserdem mit der Mitarbeit als Stage Manager / Artist Host des Big-Wheel-Floors und Sleepless-Floors und betreibt seit 2010 auch die Bar auf dem Sleepless-Floor. 2010 und 2011 war er nicht nur Mitveranstalter und -organisator sowie Booker des Tagesopenairs TH!NK? Festival in Leipzig, sondern erarbeitete auch die Idee und das Konzept hierfür.

Nach 8 Jahren Medien als Herausgeber von Partysan-Ost und Flyer-Sachsen zwischen 1995 und 2003 sowie jahrelanger Tätigkeit als Veranstalter, Booker und Clubbetreiber in unzähligen Clubs und Events von Leipzig bis Berlin, kehrte er 2007 nach 12 Jahren Abstinenz mit seiner Veranstaltungsserie "hoerfunk" wieder zu seinen Wurzeln zurück und war seitdem einmal monatlich fester Bestandteil des Samstagabends im mittlerweile ältesten Club Deutschlands, der Distillery. Zusätzlich arbeitete er bis Ende 2011 im Club im Hintergrund u.a. als Booker und Artist Host und zeichnete für die Philosophie, Organisation und Neuausrichtung des Clubs verantwortlich. Unter seiner Ägide blühte der Club in neuem Glanz auf und erreichte wieder den Stellenwert der Anfangsjahre. Lohn dafür war - nach über 10-jähriger Abstinenz - eine Top-10 Plazierung in den Groove-Jahrescharts 2011.

Mit seiner deepen bis tighten Electronic-Mischung, ohne Berührungsängste mit anderen Styles, gibt es bei ihm keine Genre-Grenzen. Musik wird bei ihm nicht in alt und neu, sondern nur in gut und schlecht unterteilt. Denn das verspricht bis heute die gleiche Energie mit dem Cutting-Edge-Sound der Stunde. Wer über 30 Jahre lang einen vollen Terminkalender hat, weiß nun einmal, wie er jedes Publikum in den Händen halten kann. Vor allem seine stundenlangen Sets bis in den Morgengrauen sind berüchtigt. Er ist eine „Rampensau“ im wahrsten Sinne. Nicht von ungefähr kommt es, daß die ersten Afterhours bei Sonne Mond & Sterne und dem Melt!-Festival von ihm initiiert und bis heute bespielt wurden.
