In Parshat VaYeshev, Yaakov’s 22 years of mourning for Yosef reflect the challenges of exile and the preparation needed for redemption. Rebbe Nachman teaches that setbacks and suffering build vessels to reveal divine clarity. Yosef’s joy amidst exile illustrates the power of Simcha to sustain and extend light, even in darkness. Yaakov’s suffering and Yosef’s strength together symbolize the leadership of Tzaddikim like Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and Rabbi Nachman, who guide us through exile with joy and faith despite life's setbacks. This Parshah reminds us that Simcha and connection to Tzaddikim are keys to enduring and overcoming life’s trials.
