This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century analytic philosopher John Wisdom's essay in the philosophy of religion, "Gods", found in his collection "Philosophy and Psychoanalysis".

It focuses specifically on his discussion of the parable of the invisible gardener found in section 6 of the essay, the most often read and anthologized part of it.  Wisdom develops this parable in order to bring out what disputes between theists and atheists about the existence of God often sound like.

Ninth (encore) session in the ⁠Aula Árabe Universitaria series⁠, given by Shayan Sardarizadeh, a journalist with BBC Verify. 

Within the context of a Middle East shaken by conflict and tension between major regional powers, Shayan Sardarizadeh, a senior journalist at BBC Verify, will be taking a look at how news and politics can be affected by viral misinformation on the Internet and in social media, as well as investigating the origin of AI-generated content.

Organized with the cooperation of ⁠IEMed Aula Mediterrania⁠ and the degree programs in ⁠Cybersecurity Engineering⁠ and ⁠International Relations⁠ at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. The session will be introduced by Álvaro Vicente, a professor of Public Law and Political Science at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, with an initial commentary/reaction provided by Katrina Kurtelius, a researcher in Public Law and Political Science at the same university. The debate will be moderated by Olivia Orozco, Casa Árabe’s Training and Economics Coordinator.
