 'Ripples' is a commissioned piece, depicting an ever-changing journey, blooming with the life that is sustained by the water (rain stick) at its base. In this audio, the music ebbs and flows, winding like a calm, clear river through a peaceful land. Its timeless sounds echo through the centuries, reminding the listener that water has always accompanied life. 

'Ripples' is a small ensemble piece written for oboe d'amore, bassoon, zither, vibraphone, and rain stick. This version has been mixed by Rayzerfang Music using Logic Pro, using the sound libraries and loops of Logic Pro and Spitfire Audio LABS, and was written using Sibelius Ultimate.

Ripples

"Ciudad del Sol" is a challenging work for solo vibraphone. It is inspired by the mythical City of the Sun, where inhabitants celebrate life and dance the night away to the sounds of the ancient bell-like instruments, playing obfuscated metric rhythms. It is also rumored to be the place where old people go to die.

Surfpunk

So finally the album is done! This was the last track! Surfpunk came out far better than my expectations. It’s a cross between jazz, funk, very heavy thrash metal drums, a touch of trap in some places, and a cinematic surfer feel over all. Plus it was great writing the solos for piano and trumpet. It’s a rocking tune with a lot of percussion and brass, with a tight bassline holding it all together.

So 16 songs done for this album! I’m guessing it’s around an hour and 10 minutes give or take. I’ll have to double check. I’ll create a playlist with all 16 tracks in album order for everyone at some point this week! But it was a great project to work on, and there’s plenty of material for the next album, with SugarFunk Avalanche already done and uploaded. The next album will be all over the place genre-wise just like this one, containing various sorts of electronica, Goa trance, EDM, and hybrid cinematic orchestral styles. Enjoy!

With spirited soulful swing rooted in Afro-Cuban clave, Freeman creates a distinct brand of mambo and salsa inspired jazz-Latin-blues. Dan McClaneghan of Allaboutjazz described him as "masterful" and ranked among other top names of the instrument. His performances have taken him from North America and Europe to the Azores, Caribbean, and South America. His recordings of original music charted on jazz, contemporary jazz, and World Music radio and aired on several nationally syndicated radio shows.

A Lower Manhattan Cultural Council grant recipient for Boricua Blues, Hell's Kitchen Soul Sauce, Latin Music in Hell's Kitchen, Freeman’s concerts have highlighted the rich musical history of his Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.

Freeman is also known for his work and recordings with several acclaimed groups including Ray Mantilla, Jose Mangual Jr’s Son Boricua with Jimmy Sabater (an architect of boogaloo), Lucho Cueto’s All-star group Black Sugar, Julio Salgado, and Willie Villegas Joe Cuba Sextet. He performed with the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (directed by Oscar Hernandez) at Madison Square Garden and with Willie Villegas's Joe Cuba Sextet for New Jersey's salsa congress, both with legendary sonero Cheo Feliciano.

Shatter the Matrix is one of the projects of composer Phil Justin, mostly high octane electronica music pulling from Goa trance, psytrance, world music, metal, funk, industrial, EDM, jazz as well as a ton of cinematic and orchestral colors. No real way to describe it except influences draw all the way from Infected Mushroom, Shpongle and Juno Reactor to John Williams, Danny Elfman and Bjork. With everything in between. I'm a fan of experimental ambient, sound-art and global music/sounds, and then some. 

Between 2012 - 2016, I broadcast In the Quiet from the studios of PBS 106.7FM. My main intention was to explore ambient music from around the world in all of its forms - music that gilds, and sometimes engulfs our silences.
