FANTASY FOR THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY (2021 - 22)

In this Tiki Vibes version of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" the toys under the tree are joining in on the fun as well!  The song is originally from the Nutcracker Suite, a ballet composed in 1892, and is the featured dance number of the fairy character. Early stagings of the ballet actually omitted this character and performed the dance with the protagonist Clara (!)  Thankfully the Fairy quickly returned to following productions, and her special dance and music has become a perennial favorite of the season.  Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Silent Night (2023 Master)

The Holidays are here again, it's time to Cha-Cha! This joyous Christmas carol from the Spanish tradition brings a message of hope and renewal. Originally from Spain, this song follows the "villancico" form and tradition, and also has Arabic influences as with many songs from the Iberian region. It's traditional lyrics, originally in Spanish, have mystical meaning and are open to interpretation. Tiki Vibe's version has a special added Latin dance twist. Happy Holidays to all!

A Christmas song with plenty of Middle Eastern flair, like the story that accompanies it. Legend has it that the Biblical Magi, or Three Wise Men, came from Eastern lands bearing gifts of gold for earthly ties, frankincense for deity, and myrrh for mortality. Louis Aguirre (f. 1968) Cubansk komponist bosiddende i Danmark. Aguirre er uddannet som komponist i Cuba, Amsterdam, men fortsatte studierne efter han flyttede til Danmark i 2004, og afsluttede solistklassen i komposition ved Det jyske Musikkonservatorium i 2007. Aguirre er en stærk og original stemme i dansk musikliv. Hans værkliste, med mere end 200 værker, inkluderer: opera, orkester- og kammermusik, soloværker, vokalmusik, koral-, elektronisk- og didaktisk musik. Han er en aktiv del af musiklivet i Danmark og Nordjylland, bl.a. ved sit arbejde som medlem af komponistgruppen Snow Mask og som kunstnerisk leder af Snow Mask Ensemblet. En række af hans værker er inspirerede af den cubanske Santeria religion og de religiøse tekster fra området.
