Headlong Into the Wind

This is the main theme I composed for my conceptual game project, "Liminality."

The game concept explores a post-singularity world where a protagonist, after trying to escape a life of total technological immersion, wakes with amnesia at the edge of a forest. The gameplay follows their journey back towards the very world they tried to flee, piecing together a forgotten past.

I wrote this piece to capture the feeling of the protagonist's "liminality:" the sort of half-awake feeling of trying to speak or remember, but being unable to. The music blends organic piano with ambient electronic textures to reflect the core conflict between nature and technology. The prominent piano melody represents that muted reach for a memory that is just out of grasp.

Liminality (Main Title Theme)

This track is part of Liminality, a conceptual game album exploring the story of a protagonist who awakens in a forest after fleeing a world of total technological immersion.

Heard at the start of the game, this in-game loop, "The Forest for the Trees," accompanies the moment the protagonist regains consciousness, where they are disoriented, alone, and surrounded by nature. The music captures that moment between confusion and clarity, with fragmented piano lines and ambient textures reflecting a mind slowly reassembling itself.
Each phrase points to something forgotten but essential. The protagonist is starting to be able to see the forest through the trees. 

This is the first breath of awareness in a world suddenly unfamiliar.


The Forest for the Trees

Unleaded Logic is a Chicago-based Electronic Dance music / new wave / retro wave producer, performer, and DJ. Since 2001, he has been creating catchy and energetic songs that blend synth-pop melodies and electronic dance music elements with rock guitar riffs and drum beats. He has released several albums and singles that showcase his diverse and dynamic sound, such as Future Fear, The Driver & the Devil, No Fear, and The Unseen. He has also composed music for the Neon Noir soundtrack, a cyberpunk-themed video game.
