In this one you step into the St. Marie's Church on the Alexanderplatz. It's quiet silent there and the sound has a long decay. Inside the church are many ornaments and statues, it looks quite beautiful even if you are not a religious person. It has also a remarkable organ. Maybe, I'll make a recording during a concert there.

Kisma - Fingertips In 3D [3D Audio]

Written, performed and recorded by Clemens Stubbe (Belial) at Engelsholm Højskole in the spring of 2018. Remixed for stereo headphones in fall of 2018.

I composed this piece when I was working on my finishing project at Engelsholm Højskole. I had decided on pursuing quadrophonic surround as a novel mixing challenge, but also as a dogma for composition and songwriting. For this particular song in the project, I also decided on trying out a few ideas I had formulated about layered improvisation replacing harmonic chords. Each improvised guitar then got a speaker for itself, along with a backup vocal. In the end, the project was a technical and creative showcase, but it was difficult to translate the experience of four speakers into two speakers. After a few months, I decided to try a virtual surround mix optimized for headphones, using minuscule reverb, EQ and compression differences to virtually create a psycho acoustic room in 3D. 
This is the result. Enjoy.

Belial is the project of singer/songwriter Clemens Stubbe and sometimes friends.
The music is a mix of dark country, decadent chanson, and manic folk.
With a strong focus on the darker aspects of being, the lyrics range from heartbreaking honesty to fabulating tales of mortality.
