Everyone's head describes a bum.
It seats you for the life you have to face.
In the way it beats you it's a drum.
I own up to mine with some disgrace.
Bounce it down the stairway of the years,
With its wrinkles, buttock cheeks, and tears,
Born of bumps and thumps and slaps and fears.

I was recently honored to be asked by the great novelist/poet/essayist Alexander Theroux to set this poem to music. Upon hearing it, Alexander wrote me to describe it as: "Stately majestic, elegant in every way."

Making me see He took time to see me,
along with helping me feel I was seen,
that I need from His sight never to flee,
as a poor redeemed sinner, now clean,
I could look upon myself by His mercy
with a blessed insight to see I could be
viewed no longer a lost soul unworthy
who though once a slave was now free.

This heartfelt selection is from our performance of all Scottish music and dance in celebration of the birthday of Robert Burns at Marquette Michigan's Peter White Public Library.

This serenely lovely traditional folk song "Cuillins of Rhum" first appeared in the historic book "Songs of the Hebrides Collected and Arranged for Voice and Pianoforte With Gaelic and English Words" by Marjory Kennedy-Fraser and Kenneth Macleod (Boosey & Hawkes, 1909 & 2022). It's an important scholarly work that includes not only music scores with lyrics in both Gaelic and English, but also musicology and presentations describing pronounciation, and music history.

Our arrangement is by Tom Aufrance, who added our harmony line sung here by Mary Kay Aufrance.

Tezcat Real is part of a greater whole….there is a youtube channel with vids.  By the way, it is pronounced “Tezcat RayAL” – the latin “real”, meaning “royal”.  Most songs are 432 hz = A - who does that? We do.....we are not entertainers, we do not entertain ideas.  Are people merely ideas? No....people are potential Tezcat Real fans, and if that can redeem them, please...spare them, Lord.  

Some say a core thing about music industry sorcery is due to 440 hz = A tuning...and, we are Tezcat Real.  We named our cat Tezcatlipoca for chrissakes, and called him Tezcat for short...added the "real", and created a band name that, honestly, I felt sincerely afraid of for a while.  Maybe the name chose us?  Can anyone really know when I am or am not jerking their chain? Keeps people on their toes, giving deliberately terrible advice!
