So honoured to share the live recording of my multi-genre morning dance journey from the Dinnawan stage at the epic @dragon-dreaming-festival, which includes (as always) my live vocal looping, yidaki/didjeridoo and percussion. 

As an attendee I experienced some profound transformations during this gathering of the tribes as I emerged into Spring from a deep and dark Winter season – and that energy is infused within this morning dance journey. Sweguno is the solo musical project of Dan Ainslie, a Canadian electronic musician currently residing in Northern California.

Drawing inspiration from live-looping musicians such as Robert A. A. Lowe, and the classic electronic vanguard of Warp, Skam, & Rephlex, Dan uses his voice as an instrumental lead. The vocal, largely untethered to language, is used to convey melody, emotion, and texture, alongside rhythmic & melodic elements both sampled & bespoke. The resulting music, whether heard on a dance floor, chill-out room, or immersed in headphones, is creatively insular, and entirely genuine.

Dan has released music on numerous labels, and in 2019 toured North America with longtime Warp Records recording artists Seefeel as an opening act. His debut album ‘No Right Or Wrong Way Forward‘ is out now.

Elkemist is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, hybrid live DJ, facilitator and ceremonialist who plays multi-genre sets rooted in mystical sounds and ethnic flavours. With a deep love of tribal bass blended with rising psychedelic energy, his sets are curated to take audiences on a sacred journey of sonic alchemy, supported by live looping with yidaki/didjeridoo, vocals, flute and percussion. Having played at festivals around Canada and Australia including Shambhala (CAN), Wicked Woods (CAN), Dragon Dreaming (AUS) and Wild Horses (AUS), he was also booked to close the Chill Island stage at this year’s canceled Esoteric Festival. While living in Canada, he co-founded a weekly ecstatic dance called Dance Wave, and he recently launched this offering in Australia to host intentional dance journeys and ceremonial gatherings for his hometown community.

Whether it’s a rising tribal bass journey, sacred gathering, ecstatic dance or sunrise festival set, expect a voyage across space and time, inspired by sounds from around the world to encourage the audience to move beyond the perceived limits of their bodies and minds.
