The Scarlet Forest, based off of Double Life, takes the role of Waterfall. Built specifically as a memorial to honor one who had fallen in the past. The trees are bleeding. The ground is bleeding. Everything is...and it does indeed smell quite putrid. To the rhythm of the bells, to the rhythm of the beating heart, the rivers flow.

Debbie suggested we go to the waterfall to record one of her sound baths. We all took a taxi from the station to the top of the mountain above the falls and followed the stream down the mountain to a broken dam which was part of the waterfall. We found a shady respite by the stream and set up our equipment. Allen brought along his carbon fiber digeridoo and drum, Debbie brought some bowls and other objects. I set up the microphone next to the river in a 'lying down’ position on the ground. This brought the mics closer to the bowls and the water at the same time.
 
When I listened back to the recording, the track is different than what I was expecting. I thought that the water noise would drown out the higher pitched bowls but actually everything came out very nice and balanced. The white noise of the stream really helped block out the other sounds from passing hikers. After the recordings, we continued down the mountain to the MTR station in the sweltering heat.

Premiere: Anthony Pappa x Fauxplay - See Me (Club Mix) [Music To Die For]

Grace and I took the 6am ferry to Mui Wo just before dawn on a warm early November day. A short walk from the dock, the silver mine waterfall was small, with a big sound. We settled on a rock in the middle of the stream and I placed the microphone closer to Grace to make sure I could hear the delicate sounds of the lyre over the crashing waters.

The waterfall provided a thick bed of white noise for her sounds to float in and out of the track. All context of place was swallowed by the noise save the occasional bird noises at both ends of the recording.

The track sounds hopeful and fresh, complementing the cool early morning. The creeping sun over the surrounding mountains of Lantau pushed breezes that caressed my cheek and filled my lungs. Goosebumps on my arm. Grace pauses several times in her song to take in her surroundings to breath the air, feel the sun, and be in the presence of nature.

I would actually cry if BTWB-Alphabright was the first ever completed continuous UT + DR AU to exist.
