Dieses Exemplar einer Unterart der Tanzbären (ursus saltatus rhythmicus) stöbert seine Beute bevorzugt entlang ausgesuchter Nebenarme der Hauptströme auf, wohl wissend, dort die exquisiteren Leckerbissen anzutreffen. Die Annehmlichkeiten eines schnellen Snacks sind ihm durchaus vertraut, wenn er mit Liebe zu ausgefallenen Menüs sein eigenes Süppchen kocht. Eine anfängliche, fast schon provokative Genügsamkeit kaschiert leicht die rigorose Konsequenz, mit der jener zutraulich wirkende Geselle dabei zu Werke geht.
Erst sorgfältig mürbe machen, dann scharf anschwitzen und anschließend geduldig unter reichlich Hitze im eigenen Saft köcheln lassen, am Ende kurz abschrecken — so gerät die Tanzfläche zu Teufels Küche. Erscheint sein Lauf meist stockend, stolpernd, bisweilen dissonant, entbehrt er dennoch
oder gerade deshalb nicht einer gewissen Sogwirkung, gibt man sich ihm hin. In diesem Sinne ist »bear with me« keine Bitte, sondern ein gut gemeinter Rat.
